The Councilor Delegate of Culture in the City of Lorca for the Popular Party, Francisco Javier Martínez, has congratulated the entry of our city into the Juderías Network, whose protocol signature will be held tomorrow in the municipality of Cacereño Hervás, and that has It was made possible thanks to the intense work carried out by the Popular Party over the last years.
We are talking about a job that was led by the Vice Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, along with the extraordinary team of municipal officials of the Department of Tourism and Culture.
Francisco Javier Martínez has said that it is an achievement of maximum relevance for the municipality, which was announced on March 28, by our Mayor, Fulgencio Gil.
The Councilor for Culture for the PP has stressed that the entry of Lorca to the Red de Juderías was a "historic milestone", which bears the signature of who truly unveiled until it was achieved: Francisco Montiel.
Now we have a tool for the promotion of our Jewish heritage legacy.
The project with which the PP got Lorca's entry into the Juderías Network was carried out at the time by the commission created for this purpose, which was formed by 7 points with a description of the municipality, tourist commitment to tourism development, the discovery of the Jewish Quarter and the Synagogue, historical justification, the presence of material elements, the organizational capacity of the municipality and territoriality, as well as an annex with photographs of the Jewish Quarter, the Synagogue, the Lorca Castle, Jewish archaeological remains, Sephardic elements exhibited at the Archaeological Museum, Easter, San Patricio, Plaza de España and the beaches of Calnegre.
Francisco Javier Martínez has indicated that Lorca has an institutional commitment as a city for the dissemination of discovered heritage.
Our city became part of this institution to add momentum to this prestigious network and share the legacy inherited by the cultures and civilizations that inhabited this land, and it has to do it working side by side with the best destinations of the "Ways of Sepharad ".
Entering the Network of Jewish Quarters of Spain "Caminos de Sefarad" is an extraordinary news for all Lorca, since we talk about a model organization, a space for culture and tourism from respect, from collective work for a greater good , from the dialogue between different populations that share a legacy and the desire to make it known.
Being part of the prestigious Red de Juderías de España will allow us to multiply the dissemination of the vestiges of Jewish culture in Lorca, which are unique, especially the medieval synagogue, which is the only one not desecrated in Spain.
