Thanks to the initiative of one of these soldiers, everyone has been able to gather in the city of the Sun, since many once the service was completed they returned to their native locations.

The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has received, this morning, together with other colleagues from the Municipal Corporation, the replacement soldiers who were stationed in the Mallorca 13 Infantry Regiment and who assisted in the floods of 1973.

The mayor of Lorca has welcomed to our city, especially those who live outside, and now 46 years later they have returned to meet their former colleagues thanks to the initiative of one of these soldiers.

Mateos has made reference to the important work that during that October 19, 1973 these soldiers, many of them volunteers, performed helping people who were trapped in their homes by the water in Lorca, but especially in the neighboring municipality of Puerto Louvers

The mayor has insisted that "your help is especially visible, taking into account the situation recently experienced in our Region in towns such as Los Alcázares, at that time there was no EMU, there were no specialized military units, and it was you who were replacements and volunteers willing to help, saving lives, taking children out of school, a job that is always remembered in Lorca. "

In addition, as a curiosity these soldiers have shone in this meeting their cards with their data and the photo in which they appear dressed in military.

There has also been a special memory with the deceased colleagues.
