The Councilor for Education in the City of Lorca by the Popular Party, Pedro Mondéjar, has requested the drafting and development of a battery of improvement actions for the comprehensive modernization of the facilities of the Public College of Special Education "Pilar Soubrier", which count on the involvement of the City Council and the Ministry of Education.
Our proposal, go ahead, is completely constructive, and its sole purpose is to help both the teaching team that develops its professional work in the center and all the families of its users.
In fact, the interventions that we put on the table include precisely the requests of the entire Pilar Soubrier educational community.
It is a measure of consensus, strictly positive and for the benefit of all.
The Popular Councilor said that it is an educational center with very particular characteristics.
It is the only special education center that exists in the whole region and has been awarded the Diploma of Distinguished Services of the City of Lorca.
Its students have serious and permanent needs, associated with personal conditions due to disability, in addition to extensive and generalized support needs that require specific human and material resources along with adaptations that cannot be taken care of in ordinary centers.
Pedro Mondéjar has stated that we are talking about a center that serves students from various municipalities in the Region of Murcia, which necessarily come to it, presenting even behavioral disorders.
The school is a regional reference, being one of the two centers of the Region of Murcia of these characteristics that even has a residence service.
From the Popular Party, after studying in depth the conditions that the center presents next to the educational community itself and the direction of the school, the current local government is demanded the execution of a battery of improvements, such as:
Continue with the arrangement and adaptation of the school's perimeter fence, which was already started by the PP last summer of 2018, with the aim of avoiding unwanted incidents, such as the escape of students, a fact that makes a fence in conditions indispensable .
Arrangement of damages and coverage of the sports court, following the line of action undertaken by the PP in other schools.
The center does not have any covered area for students, and is especially important because of the idiosyncrasies of students who can enjoy outdoors.
We demand that the firm of the sports court be fixed and the center provide the furniture and equipment that parents claim, since the track is cracked and with holes, in very bad conditions.
This constitutes an architectural barrier for student movement.
Improvement interventions in the residence, which currently requires arrangements of doors, cabinets, paint and furniture.
As for the school, from the PP we demand that an action plan be undertaken for the renovation of doors, general painting of the property (patio door and several rooms), small repairs on floors, walls, corridors, roof, installation of fence of scissors at the infirmary entrance, as well as plumbing arrangements to improve the water network, drains, among other issues.
It is also necessary to carry out some interventions in electricity, in order to extend light points especially.
Continue with the elimination of architectural barriers that have already allowed the adaptation of toilets and other dependencies.
Other claims are the authorization of a multipurpose room to accommodate the activities of the students and the conditioning of the Basal and Multisensory Stimulation Room.
