Specifically, a battery of actions is being carried out to condition the downtown parking lot and guarantee the security of access for students, teachers and users of the San Antonio Sports Complex.
The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, together with the Councilors for Development and Education, Isabel Casalduero and Antonia Pérez, together with the director of the IES San Juan Bosco, María del Carmen Rodríguez, have attended the supervision of the work of conditioning the parking and the entrance of the Institute of Secondary Education San Juan Bosco.
Mateos explained that "it is about responding to a historical claim of the direction of this educational center since the number of vehicles that access the facilities is very wide, especially during the hours of entry and exit of students. A density of traffic that is increased with the arrival of the numerous buses, more than a dozen, that carry out the school transport service and that came to produce situations of danger due to the lack of space for the access of the students themselves. "
The mayor detailed that "the City Council, through the Department of Development and Infrastructure, began work at the end of July and access has already been improved thanks to the creation of a new road that will facilitate the circulation of buses and two new parking spaces for these vehicles. In addition, the expansion of parking on municipally owned land is also being carried out. "
Mateos Molina has added that "the works are being executed in two phases: the first one solves the main road safety problem, and the second phase consisted of the expansion of the parking area, which can be accessed from the Pottery and Francisco de Goya ".
The First Edil has shown that "with the improvements that are being made in the IES San Juan Bosco, which will benefit in the coming days both the educational community of the center and the users of the San Antonio Sports Complex, This way, it manages to decongest traffic in the area during peak student entry and exit times, reducing dangerous situations due to the large number of students who at certain times have to wait for buses to return to their homes. "
Diego José Mateos has remarked that "this action is part of the commitment that this Government Team has acquired towards our neighbors in Lorca regarding the recovery of the multitude of parking spaces suppressed irresponsibly by the previous municipal government, a crash plan to alleviate a parking deficit that we have put in place from the first moment and that we are going to expand ".
