The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, continues with his firm commitment to build a young space on the site where the former National Police Station was located, in the popular and central San Vicente square.
Mateos has revealed that "it was the previous Government Team of the Popular Party who made a totally unilateral decision, not only without the consensus of the other municipal groups but also with the vote against the Socialist Municipal Group during the Board of Directors of Aguas de Lorca where a project was presented for the construction of the company's headquarters at this location. "
The First Edil has announced that "it is a project that we will not support in the characteristics in which it was raised and, therefore, we are studying new alternatives because our bet was and continues to be the installation of a youth leisure center to offer a meeting place for boys and girls between 13 and 18 years old. "
Mateos Molina has revealed the "imperative need to create a youth space that currently does not exist, a healthy leisure alternative for our youth and thus avoid being forced to even roam the streets and squares."
The mayor of Lorca has defended that "therefore, we understand that this should be the main object of this space without discarding any other shared use that can be studied but the project of Aguas de Lorca, exclusively, is totally ruled out."
