Mateos has celebrated "that ADIF meets the deadlines for restoring the traffic of a commuter service that had to be interrupted after the serious damage caused by torrential rains last September."
The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has reported the restoration, tomorrow, Sunday, October 20, of the commuter train service that Lorca communicates with Águilas that was interrupted on September 13 after the damage caused by the DANA that was shaking the Murcia region.
Mateos recalled that "it is the last section of the conventional width network that was interrupted in the Region as a result of torrential rains, which has forced to completely rebuild the facilities in a 25-meter section, by lifting the track, the complete replacement of the platform, the contribution of new ballast and the assembly of the superstructure ".
Among other operations carried out, it also highlights "the general cleaning of trawls of land and other materials around the road, roads and drainage works. In addition, in another 1,000 meters, spread over different points, different interventions have been carried out with the same technical works and ballast contributions, for which 50 tons of breakwater have been used, 2,000 m3 of ballast, among other materials, and 100 m3 of embankments have been treated. "
The Mayor of Lorca has thanked the Railway Infrastructure Manager (ADIF) "the great technical and human deployment to normalize the railway circulation in this section in the initially planned period, and for which up to 15 machines of different types and equipment have been allocated of 15 operators in different shifts. "
Finally, Diego José Mateos wanted to remember that "this service is used daily by many people, among which students and workers who choose the train as a means of transport because of the proximity to their jobs or educational centers."
