The councilor of the United Left-Greens, Gloria Martín, will request at the Plenary Session of the City Council that it will be held today that at least 50% of the items provided for in the investment chapter of the next Municipal Budget - currently about three million euros - They go to the districts of Lorca.

Martin will defend an amendment to a motion presented by the PP by which this party requests that the City Council sign a loan of four million euros for the execution of new investments in the Lorca districts.

In this regard, he has warned that the situation of economic bonanza that tries to sell the PP is not real.

And it is that the positive remnant of treasury that the City Council has, and that allows it to acquire new credits, has its origin exclusively in the payment of 8.7 million euros of Iberdrola in compliance with a judicial sentence that in 2018 condemned it to pay this amount for the liquidation of the activity license fees of the electrical substations of Carril and Nogalte �.

However, the debt of the City Council is still more than 36 million euros, almost half of the municipal budget and it was PSOE and PP who modified the Constitution to prioritize their payment to anything else.

In any case, Martín did not reject the idea of ​​signing a new loan but linked to a three-year Investment Plan that has the participation of the neighbors.

"I think the reasonable thing is to start at the beginning, list the needs, sort the priorities, know what each item will cost and then seek funding," he explained.

In that sense, the councilwoman of IU-Verdes was hopeful that the current municipal government team manages “with a head�, but recalled other times when the City Council squandered public money in infrastructure closed today or in works “for greater glory of the mayors on duty "as" sports halls that only serve to nest the birds, walkways that are grass of the vandals, barracks of the local police without use, auditoriums of 18 million euros or bullring purchases ... "

“We cannot repeat the same mistakes as always.

The public money must be managed with criteria of rationality and attending to the real needs of the citizenship �so it is“ essential �to have it.

For this reason, Martín advocated that this year the Budgets contemplate that a minimum of 50% of the planned investments go to districts and, for the next three years, address the implementation of a more ambitious investment plan for which it will be necessary to ask a loan "if necessary".

On the other hand, Martin was in favor of asking the Government of Spain to renew the agreement of three million euros for the renovation of infrastructure in the villages, but also that all municipal groups join the requirement that the Autonomous Community bet on Lorca.

In this regard, he recalled that the 185 million euros of the European Investment Bank for the recovery from the damages of the earthquake of 2011, have served as an excuse to the regional Executive to reduce, for years, their contributions to Lorca through the regional budgets, while He has used part of that money to finance actions in other municipalities.

Martín also believes "vital" that the autonomous Government stops charging the Consistory the cost of competencies that "are improper" and that represent 4.8 million euros of the municipal budget.

In addition, it is necessary that the criterion of territorial dispersion be taken into account when addressing local financing of the municipality.
