The Councilor for Citizen Participation in the City of Lorca by the Popular Party, María de las Huertas García, has proposed the recovery of the facilities that made up the Center for Outdoor Interpretation, existing in the vicinity of the Dam of Bridges, one of the most outstanding hydraulic infrastructures in our country.
The objective of their recovery is to make them available to the multiple social groups that our municipality has for its use and general use.
We want to make special mention of the totally positive nature of this project.
It is not that it is the City Council that is responsible for financially facing its execution, but to be able among all parties to obtain the resources that finance the actions.
Mari Huertas García has explained that we are talking about a group that is worth putting back into value, and that has two pavilions that could be rehabilitated for public use, as a shelter, with their corresponding kitchens, toilets and living rooms. multiple uses.
It is characterized by having a natural environment with paths surrounded by trees, especially pines, oaks, rosemary, thyme and esparto, which are, in part, the result of a reforestation campaign carried out years ago that has offered very positive results, although the drip irrigation system has disappeared and should be restored.
From the PP they have indicated that what we propose is to work together with all public administrations to find the necessary financing that allows both Lorca and those who visit us, to have at their disposal well-equipped facilities, which also serve as a revulsive for the revitalization of social and economic activity in this area.
It is a completely constructive proposal, posed in positive and with which we seek to obtain a common benefit.
If we achieve this, it will be good news for everyone and a reason to congratulate us, and that is why we consider it appropriate to start taking the first steps in this regard.
This Outdoor Interpretation Center would fundamentally need to rehabilitate the existing pavilions, which unfortunately have been subjected to vandalism, so that they can be used by the different groups, in addition to replacing the informative panels that explained the importance of the Dam of Bridges, its history, data on the fauna and flora that inhabits this area and geological information, and perform usual maintenance and cleaning tasks, for example, on the solar clock that exists in the area.
What we propose is that this site adds to the list of elements of our municipality that constitute a very important legacy for being examples of the Mediterranean water culture.
In this case we would have an ideal place especially for the little ones to understand the importance of this resource and how the Lorca have been able throughout centuries of history to execute the most ingenious works to store and take advantage of every last drop of water .
