The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Gloria Martín, has denounced serious death threats against the councilors who in the past municipal plenary session approved the new fiscal ordinances that included the equalization of the price of the module of the Tax on Constructions, Facilities and Works (ICIO) which applies to livestock farms that are paid for agricultural-related constructions.
The councilwoman has had access to telephone messages sent by a group of farmers who talk about "giving a shot in the brains" to politicians who have approved this measure, in addition to uttering "all kinds of insults."
Gloria Martín has explained that it is not the first time that IU councilors face insults and threats of aggression for defending the general interest of the municipality, and has lamented that this attitude is fueled by leaders of professional organizations and even by councilors of others political parties.
Therefore, Martin has demanded that the groups representing the sector, especially Adespolorca, and all municipal groups, publicly condemn death threats and insults against elected officials for the exercise of their public function.
"They are obliged to do so if they do not want to be complicit in those who intend to impose their will through terror," he said.
But, above all, the IU-Greens councilor has called for the cessation of hostilities suffered by those neighbors who, "by legitimate channels and in a peaceful manner," are defending their "right to live in dignity."
"Ours is nothing compared to the brutal harassment that some citizens are suffering," said Martin, who has demanded the cessation of these behaviors if their authors do not want to be ashamed of being made public, "with names and surnames" , through the relevant complaint.
"If farmers need explanations or discuss the issues that affect them, what they have to do is sit down and talk like civilized people at the sectoral tables that must be convened, once and for all, by the City Council," he told the respect.
On the other hand, Martin has lamented the "irresponsibility" and "demagogy" of the spokesman of economic affairs of the PP in the City of Lorca, the councilman Juan Francisco Martínez, whose "incendiary harangues" are leading to this type of behavior.
On this matter, the mayor of IU-Greens has lamented that, by a handful of votes, "Martinez crossed" the red line that separates the policy of the matonismo ".
The same tax for farmers and ranchers
About ICIO, Martín explained that what was approved in the Plenary session was the correction of a "clearly political" price, the result of the pressure capacity of the livestock sector, being the module for livestock farms (€ 103 / m2), without justification any technique, 25% lower than the one used, for example, for the construction of an agricultural warehouse (€ 135 / m2).
"We do not understand that a farmer has to pay more than a farmer," said Martin, who has lamented that the PP had established different categories within the primary sector.
Therefore, with the approval of the revision of the regulatory ordinance of this tax, the module is equated.
Even so, it will remain well below what farmers pay in Murcia, which is € 223.25 / m2, 40% less than in the City of the Sun. In any case, it will only apply to new buildings, reforms or extensions that are made from 2020.
The councilwoman of IU-Verdes has assured that the especially low price of this tax in Lorca has contributed to the massive proliferation of farms in the municipality, so it is necessary to establish measures that contribute to limit the implementation of this type of farms, which They are pollutants and demand a large amount of water resources.
"There are those who think that 1,500 farms in Lorca are not enough, we believe so, and our obligation is to ensure the general interest and work for a sustainable productive model that is respectful of natural resources, which belong to everyone," he said.
"This municipality has serious environmental problems and we are not going to cover our mouths," he concluded.
