"Once upon a time" by Primitivo Pérez (05/11/2019)

Directed by Primitivo Pérez, it has the participation of guest artists such as Ruth Lorenzo and Xuso Jones

It was 6:47 p.m. on May 11, 2011, when Lorca's life stopped for a few moments, an earthquake of magnitude 5.1 shook the city;

9 fatalities and 324 injured were their tragic balance, 90% of the buildings were damaged, architectural and heritage destruction was quantified in more than 1,000 million euros, material, cultural and historical damage that seemed irreparable.

Many dreams were truncated, but the Lorca people surrendered and united were able to fight against the tragedy and recover their illusions with even more energy than before.

8 years later, the Integra Foundation wanted to pay tribute to the city and its inhabitants through a musical feature film.

In "Once Upon a Time", a young woman returns to the city of Lorca after several years of absence.

She and her friends decide to refound their musical group to participate in a solidarity festival in favor of those affected by the earthquake.

A story of lost dreams and rediscovered illusions, of experiences that run parallel to those of a miraculously resurrected community from the rubble.

The filmmaker Primitivo Pérez has been the director and screenwriter of the production.

She has had the collaboration of Abel Morte as director of photography and Eva Oliva as art director.

The weight of the interpretation has fallen on young actors trained in the Superior School of Dramatic Arts of Murcia: Rosana Hernández, Pepe Alacid, Patricia Miñano and Juan Ángel Campillo;

accompanied by veteran artists such as Oché Cortés, Tony Beteta and Manuel Llamas.

In the musical section, it is worth mentioning the figure of Pedro Contreras, composer and producer of the songs that are part of the production, which have been performed by the actors themselves, and have had choreographies by Jon Mitó.

Also noteworthy is the collaboration of the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia and well-known guest artists such as Xuso Jones, Ruth Lorenzo and Symmetric.

The production has been shot in such emblematic places of the city as the Guerra Theater, the Church of Santiago Apóstol, the Castle of Lorca, the Huerto Ruano House-Museum, or the Virgen de las Huertas Sanctuary, and highlights the great value artistic and historical heritage of Lorca, as well as the enormous work done for recovery after the significant damage caused in 2011.

This production is framed in the Digital Heritage project directed by the Integra Foundation, and is financed by European FEDER funds and the General Directorate of Strategy and Digital Transformation of the Ministry of Presidency and Finance of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
