The Councilor for Culture of the City of Lorca, María Ángeles Mazuecos has presented, this morning, together with Cayetano Padilla, president of the Flamenco Cultural Club "Ciudad del Sol", and representatives of the Local Assembly of the Red Cross Trophies Sol de Oro , Sol de Plata and Sol de Bronce that will be awarded to the winner, the second and third classified of the XXIX International Festival of Flamenco Cante "Ciudad del Sol".
The Councilor for Culture has detailed that these 'flamenco' statuettes have been the work of the sculptor from Lorca, Lola Arcas, whose work we can continue to enjoy since also within this festival, from this afternoon will be open in one of the rooms of the Palacio de Guevara the exhibition, "Flamencas", by the same author and which will open from 8 pm and will be attended by the Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos Molina.
Mazuecos has stressed that "Lola Arcas wanted to contribute to the Festival, designing and transferring the models exclusively to the organization to serve as trophies in later editions."
This sample, which can be enjoyed until November 30, consists of 18 figures made of bronze and polyester resin representing characters from the world of flamenco.
The exhibition is completed with the book "The sculptor from Lorca, María Dolores Fernández Arcas".
For their part, since the organization of the Festival they have added that "at the desire of the Lorca sculptor herself, the proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the Red Cross of Lorca."
The International Festival of Flamenco Cante "Ciudad del Sol" begins this Thursday, November 7, and will do so with the proclamation by the lawyer from Lorca, María Antonia García Jiménez, starting at 9 pm at the Teatro Guerra de Lorca.
This Friday, November 8 will take place the semifinal where the five students classified in the previous phase will participate and will be completed with a recital or interpretation of flamenco dance.
The final will be this Saturday with the performance of the three finalists, a tribute to a partner and will attend, as a guest artist, Pedro "El Granaino", a consecrated figure of the song that dominates the different flamenco clubs.
This flamenco contest will feature a first prize to the most complete singer / songwriter who will receive 'Golden Sun Trophy', diploma and 3,000 euros;
the second, 'Silver Sun Trophy', diploma and 2,000 euros, and the third, the 'Bronze Sun', diploma and 1,000 euros.
