Gloria Martín asks the City Council to assign these homes to the Autonomous Community and that in the autonomous budgets of 2021 a heading is included to convert them into a residential complex for the elderly that combines care for dependents with apartments that offer common services for those who they still want to preserve their independence
The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes in the City of Lorca, Gloria Martín, has warned of the deficit of public places in residences for elderly people in the municipality.
Martin has lamented that there are neighbors supporting waiting lists of more than two years due to the lack of investment by the regional government in the creation of public residences that facilitate and dignify the life of the elderly.
For this reason, the councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes has asked the City Council to transfer to the Autonomous Community the public promotion housing built by the municipal land and housing company of Lorca (Suvilor) in La Paca, and that in the regional budgets of 2021 a heading is included to convert them into a residential complex for the elderly.
Martín is committed to a mixed model that includes spaces for the care of people who need full assistance, along with apartments that offer common services for those who still want to maintain their independence.
The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes has explained that it is mandatory to "give way" to an infrastructure borne by municipal coffers, targeting its use to the real needs of the towns of Lorca, which have a very aged population and yet , lack the necessary quality and public services.
In addition, the creation of this residential complex would also serve to revitalize the hospitality fabric of the area and to create jobs in villages heavily affected by unemployment and lack of job opportunities.
