The Councilor for Health of the City of Lorca, José Ángel Ponce, has announced the start of a new campaign of free chipado for pets.
Ponce has reported "the Department of Health and Consumption of Lorca, in collaboration with the clinical veterinary establishments of the municipality and the Illustrious Official College of Veterinarians of the Region of Murcia launches a new campaign of pet whipping completely free for the first time in districts. "
The Edil has detailed that "the campaign will take place on Saturdays November 16 and 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the social premises of Purias, Torrecilla, La Parroquia, Zarcilla de Ramos, in the new social premises of Marchena, in the old house of the doctor, next to the pharmacy, in Ramonete and in the 'yellow' social center of La Paca. Also in the children's school of Almendricos on November 30 and December 14 with the same schedule " .
Ponce Díaz explained that "to benefit from the campaign, you must be registered in any district of Lorca and present the DNI and the health card of the animal if you have it to the veterinarian who will implant the microchip to your pet. In addition, the neighbors of districts in which a chipado point has not been established may also benefit from this free initiative simply by going to one of the places where the campaign is being carried out. "
The Councilor for Health has shown that "thanks to this initiative, 518 animals will be identified and will comply, thus, with Law 6/2017, of November 8, on the protection and defense of companion animals in the Region of Murcia whose purpose is to deepen the educational and social awareness measures of the population, but also to harden the sanctioning regime in the face of incivious and cruel behavior with companion animals, and this in order to eradicate these behaviors of abuse and animal abandonment, still too frequent and rooted in our society. "
José Ángel Ponce has reported on the "mandatory rabies vaccination as well as the identification of companion animals, that is, dogs, cats and ferrets to which an electronic identifier is implanted, accompanied by the corresponding identification document by authorized veterinarians The microchip is a painless system of easy and fast insertion that will allow to find the animals in case of loss or theft and to demonstrate their property throughout the life of the pet ".
The mayor of Health recalled that "non-identification and non-rabies vaccination are serious infractions and will be sanctioned with fines of 1,501 to 6,000 euros, while the abandonment of an animal is considered very serious and will be punished with a fine of 6,001 to 30,000 euros. "
Ponce Díaz has taken stock of "the number of animals identified since these free pet pet campaigns were launched, since the beginning of the animal identification program, thanks to the Municipal Ordinance for the Protection and possession of pets and the Animal Identification System of the Region of Murcia managed by the Official College of Veterinarians and the clinical establishments, 19,777 animals of which 15,809 remain active have been identified in Lorca. "
