The Councilor for Youth of the City of Lorca, José Ángel Ponce, has announced the launch of the Theater Workshops for secondary schools in the city.
Ponce explained that "more than 300 young people belonging to the secondary education centers of our municipality will participate, once again, in the Theater Workshops offered by the Department of Youth of the City of Lorca."
The mayor has detailed that "these theater workshops are aimed at bringing and knowing the theater and performing arts through games and creative activities, encouraging cooperative work, where collectively, they develop their own characters, texts and plays , pursuing as a final objective the representation of their own works on stage.In addition, they will be taught by different local theater actors-monitors, with a well-known and proven experience in teaching theater to students of all ages, levels and personal characteristics ".
Ponce Díaz has talked about the benefits of an activity in which "essential aspects are worked on in the development of their needs, such as social skills, expression of emotions, self-regulation, self-awareness, self-esteem and verbal and non-verbal communication ".
The Councilor for Youth has informed that "these workshops will be held during one or two afternoons a week from the month of December, to culminate on March 24 at the Teatro Guerra that will host the representation of the plays, of the works prepared by each of the groups, in the thirty-first edition of the Intercentros Theater Contest, where they will be able to visualize 'in situ' the capacities, advances and achievements of these young people and where the general public will be able to appreciate the artistic abilities of these young people. "
José Ángel Ponce stressed that "it is an activity already consolidated in the school and cultural calendar of the town that comes to enhance the taste for theater and culture in general among the youngest and that, for many, is the first time they get on stage to participate in a theater. "
The mayor has announced the centers that participate in these workshops "secondary schools Sierra de Almenara, Ramón Arcas Meca, Ibáñez Martín, Prince of Asturias, Bartolomé Pérez Casas and Ros Giner who will prepare different works dedicated to a free theme and with adaptations made by the students themselves, with the help of the teachers of the center and the monitors of the Department of Youth ".
