Lorca competes with 11 municipalities in the Region in the "Encesta glass, we all win" Ecovidrio campaign to promote recycling through sport.
The prize for adding more glass than the rest of the Region will be the reform of the sports court of the Pilar Soubrier special education school
The Councilor for Public Companies of the City of Lorca, Francisco Morales has presented the "Encesta glass, we all win" campaign in which our municipality will actively participate until next Sunday, November 17.
This is a campaign organized by Ecovidrio and the regional government in collaboration with the Basketball Federation of the Murcia region to encourage the collection of glass through sport.
Throughout the week five containers shaped like a basketball will be installed where you can deposit the glass generated by homes and the hospitality industry.
Deposit points are located on Corredera Street, Plaza de Calderón, San José Park, Europa Avenue and the old Plaza de Abastos.
Francisco Morales has informed that the prize for being the municipality that recycles more glass in this campaign will be the reform of a sports court with recycled glass material.
In the event that Lorca is the winning municipality, the renovated track will be that of the Pilar Soubrier special education school.
The mayor of public companies, Francisco Morales, stressed that the objective of this initiative is "to increase the amounts of glass containers that are collected in the igloos, raising awareness of the importance of recycling, while promoting the practice of basketball and values ​​that this sport has associated, such as teamwork and companionship. "
Morales has encouraged all citizens of Lorca to participate in this initiative by bringing their glass containers to the campaign containers to get Lorca to get the reform of the aforementioned sports court.

The award-winning municipality will be announced in the month of December, once the renovation of the sports court is finished, ending this campaign with the presentation of it.
Glass recycling data in the Region of Murcia
According to the latest available data for 2018, the citizens of the Region of Murcia recycled a total of 25,363 tons of glass containers.
This means that each inhabitant recycled an average of 17.2 kg of glass per inhabitant.
In 2018, Lorca closed with the direct contribution to the green igloo of 9 kilos per inhabitant.
