The host group of Choirs and Dances Virgen de las Huertas has been collaborating with the festivities in honor of San Clemente for 13 years with the aim, among others, "to enhance the cultural program of our city."
The Councilor for Culture of the City of Lorca, María Ángeles Mazuecos, presented this morning, together with the president of the group of Choirs and Dances Virgen de las Huertas, María Romera, the XIV edition of the National Folklore Festival "Ciudad del Sol".
The Councilor for Culture has detailed "the appointment will take place this coming Saturday, November 23, at the Teatro Guerra from 8 pm and will be attended by more than 120 people from the Canary Islands, Cantabria and Murcia."
Mazuecos has congratulated the organizers that every year are overcome by bringing to Lorca the best of national folklore and allowing us to know the culture of other places in our country, "bringing communities together, and twinning cities thanks to the celebration of this festival, with a common language , that of the sounds of traditional instruments and body movements of different dances or dances, and continue to keep the culture alive in our city. "
For its part, from Choirs and Dances Virgen de las Huertas, its president, María Romera has explained that they have been collaborating with the San Clemente Federation "for 13 years organizing a national festival during the November holidays in honor of our patron , enlarging the cultural program of our city and which in turn is part of the activities of FEAF (Spanish Federation of Folklore Groups ".
Romera has pointed out that "year after year, the Lorca group brings together the rich and varied folklore of Spain, as well as the most entrenched popular manifestations of our region with the participation of the best groups in the country, thanks to the collaboration of the Department of Culture of the City of Lorca and the Institute of Cultural Industries and Arts of the Region (ICA). "
Admission to the event will be free until full capacity is reached and we will be able to enjoy the folklore of the Acoidan Cultural Association of Santa Ursula (Tenerife), the Virgen de las Nieves de Tanos Dance Group of Torrelavega (Cantabria) and the Virgin Choirs and Dances Huertas de Lorca, as host group.
This year's poster is a photograph of Lorena Segura González, second prize of the V Photographic Contest that was held during the last XXX International Festival of Folklore Virgen de las Huertas at the September Girl Fair.
In it you can see the image of one of the members of the group, Miguel Ángel Sánchez with his guitar, "a young boy in love with our folklore and with great knowledge of our traditions".
All attendees can enjoy the Folias and the Isas, more characteristic pieces of Canarian folklore originating from the mid-18th century, as well as the dances declared of Cultural Interest of Cantabria as Los Picayos or the Dance of the Arches, among others .
In addition, the host group during its performance will refer on this occasion to the Lorca district of Avilés in which they will also wear clothing from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.
The president of Choirs and Dances Virgen de las Huertas has invited all Lorca and Lorca to attend the Guerra Theater and recalled that "Lorca is a city where folklore is alive, something that Lorca have to feel proud because a town without folklore, is a town without history, without culture. "
