The ornamentation consists of the placement of 23 supports of 3 masts with lanterns adorned with three flags in collaboration with the San Clemente Federation and that are allusive to the three cultures that lived together for centuries in our town: Christian, Muslim and Jewish.
The Councilor for Commerce, the City of Lorca, Francisco Morales, the Councilor for Heritage and Historic District, María Ángeles Mazuecos, and the president of the Lorca Historical Center Commercial Association, Diego Re, presented this morning, together with the president of the Federacion San Clemente, Luis Torres del Alcázar, the decoration that adorns since the end of last week the most central streets of Lorca in order to beautify them for the holidays in honor of our Patron Saint Clement.
In a coordinated effort between the two councilors, thanks to which the center of our city will wear ornamentation prepared exclusively for the celebration of the patron saint festivities of San Clemente.
In it we wanted to reflect the three cultures that lived in our municipality for centuries, so that each culture is represented in the different flags: white for Muslim culture, blue for Jewish and crimson for Christian, the latter coinciding With the color of the official flag of Lorca.
The president of the San Clemente Federation, Luis Torres del Alcázar, pointed out that "the flags have been prepared by teachers and students of the IES Bartolomé Pérez Casas sewing module in a totally disinterested manner; while the San Clemente Federation has contributed the fabrics and the impression of the flags. "
