The layers are embroidered by hand in silks and gold in the purest form of Lorca and they show off the shield of the Brotherhood of San Clemente
The vice mayor, Francisco Morales, and the Councilor for Culture, María Ángeles Mazuecos, presented this morning together with the president of the San Clemente Federation, Luis Torres del Alcázar, the main novelties that will accompany the Patron Saint of Lorca in his east procession year.
The premieres have been presented in the former collegiate church of San Patricio, where the president of the San Clemente Federation has announced both the new escort that will accompany the Patron Saint in his procession on November 23, as well as his pontifical script.
Luis Torres has reported that the escort "is composed of 21 layers inspired by a medieval cavalry Order in conjunction with the Cardinal College - since San Clemente is the third Pope of Christendom - and was made up of 20 people until 1985".
The other novelty that has been released this year is the papal script of the patron saint.
"It appears the weapons of San Clemente, which highlights his anagram, the anchor of his martyrdom, the two keys and his dignity with the tiara," said Torres del Alcazar, who also wanted to express thanks to Vice Mayor Francisco Morales for the efforts made and the City Council in general, although the layers have been paid by the brothers, "without their invaluable help, the premiere we present today could not have been made."
For their part, María Ángeles Mazuecos have thanked the Federation San Clemente to continue enriching these festivities, highlighting “the incorporation of Lorca's embroidery to our patron celebrations that the federation is doing, which in addition to providing them with more value and beauty, delves into a of our hallmarks that we project to the world â€.
Asked about the tourist dimension of the festivities, Francisco Morales, stressed that “it is an engine to boost the tourist offer of Lorca, especially in this new stage in which Lorca has been integrated into the Spanish Juderías Network, The Federation not only includes Christians and Muslims in the parade but also Jews.
All this is integrated into a wide planning of activities to encourage the tourist attraction of Lorca â€.
