The Courtyard of the Town Halls of the Regional Assembly has hosted the presentation of the replica of the ceremonial sheath of the Catholic Monarchs, made at the initiative of the San Clemente de Lorca Foundation and which has been embroidered in silks and gold by Silvia Teruel.

The event was attended by a broad parliamentary representation headed by the president of the Regional Assembly, Alberto Castillo, as well as Luis Torres del Alcázar, president of the San Clemente de Lorca Foundation, and Nines Mazuecos, councilor for Culture, University, Historical Heritage and Casco Historic City Hall of Lorca.

Alberto Castillo has influenced the wealth of the city's history and that “over the centuries their lands have been imprinted with cultural traces as rich as Jewish, Muslim and Christian.

Its traditional border enclave condition has given it its own identity. â€

Castillo stressed that the San Clemente Foundation “has had the great idea of recalling the episode of the entrance of Fernando the Catholic in the city and merging it with one of its great traditions, that of hand embroidery art, candidate for Intangible Heritage of The humanity".

In this sense, the president of the Regional Assembly has also recalled the proximity of the San Clemente festivities, patron of Lorca, “and that his parties that grow year after year, I humbly believe deserve the recognition of National Tourist Interest by tradition and for his valuable historical and cultural contribution â€.

Gloria Alarcón, second vice president of the Regional Assembly has represented during her speech the role of María de Molina, queen consort and regent of Castilla, narrating in first person the biography of this woman ahead of her time.

Alarcón has emphasized "the importance of our heroines and the coexistence of the three cultures in Lorca and the importance of the female figure in Spain."

For his part, Luis Torres del Alcázar has thanked “the warmth and support that is always received in the Regional Assembly.†Torres explained that the sheath represented the empowerment of women at a specific and historical moment. it represented the superior justice of the Kingdom and therefore only one man could brandish it. He has also asked the deputies to help promote the candidacy of the embroidery of Lorca as intangible heritage of humanity, as well as the Feasts of San Clemente to be declared as National Tourist Interest "The festival of San Clemente is the only one in Spain that represents the three cultures in equality," he said.
