The actions to be carried out contemplate the improvement of connectivity between neighborhoods, accessibility and new provision of leisure spaces.
In fact, the neighborhood will be unified in terms of paving and will be equipped with sports, cultural spaces and new elements such as children and adults games.
The Councilor for Works in the City of Lorca for the Popular Party, Angel Meca, has been congratulated for the start of urban renewal works that will benefit more than 90,000 m2 of the urban area of ​​the city, thanks to the investment of 1,862,894 euros that has been possible thanks to the work developed by the Popular Party, and that is now being executed by the Regional Government through the Ministry of Development.
The work focuses on a general improvement of infrastructure that pursues the sustainable development of the area, the well-being of citizens and their participation in the collective life of the city.
Its scope covers a total area of ​​90,000 square meters that in addition to the Santa Clara Avenue, includes its continuation towards the bridges of the Pool, pedestrian walkway of Manterola, the bridge that connects with the Avenue of Europe, and the old bridge of the railroad
It also includes the Miguel Ángel Residential area, with the limit of the railway line and San Indalecio Street and the area bounded by Eugenio Úbeda Street, Carril de Caldereros Street, and Callejón de los Frailes, Paso Blanco Street and Plaza Virgen of bitterness.
The objective of this intervention is to restructure the area to provide it with its own identity that will take full advantage of its strategic situation in a threefold direction: due to the proximity to the Guadalentín River, its proximity to the urban center of the city and one of the main roads important in the city such as Avenida Juan Carlos I. Santa Clara will connect with other neighborhoods and accessibility will be enhanced.
In addition, a new and large green axis will be created next to the Guadalentín with free spaces for the use and enjoyment of the neighbors, which will include urban gardens.

In fact, the neighborhood will be unified in terms of paving and will be equipped with sports, cultural spaces and new elements such as children and adults games.
A new vertebrate green axis will be created next to the Guadalentín river joining the bridge of the Avenida de Europa with the Puente de la Alberca, through a pedestrian zone along the river, creating a new free space with stands for performances, meetings and stays of the neighbors in the area of ​​the Old Market and next to the Gold Fountain. On the other side of the bridge of the Avda. of Europe, the existing green zone is completed and another milestone is created with the rehabilitation of the old catwalk of the railway.
In addition, an area with urban gardens for community use is implemented.
Coexistence streets to the north of Avda. Juan Carlos I are foreseen, and streets with differentiated roads, with widening of the sidewalks to the south of it, maintaining the existing circulation in a single direction.
The free space and the park of the Virgen de la Amargura Square continue along the Paso Blanco Street ending at Carril de los Caldereros Street, expanding the green areas with woodland plantation, implantation of new urban furniture, regenerating the area to favor the neighborhood life and improve its relationship with the surrounding urban fabric.
The renovation of all the paving is planned in the Residencial Miguel Ángel.
Regarding the renewal of services for the improvement of energy efficiency, services are renewed where it is considered possible and necessary.
It includes renovation of water, sanitation and rainwater supply facilities, installation of LED type luminaires, improvement of the telecommunications network and power lines, as well as the inclusion of nature in the neighborhood, taking into account its irrigation needs .
