Pedro Sosa, spokesman councilor of Izquierda Unida Verdes in the town hall of Lorca, has requested this morning that the environment of the Fuente del Oro environment be carried out with the reconstruction of the old laundries that existed in the area and where it was later located La Lonja until it was demolished after the earthquakes of 2011.
The adequacy of the banks of the River has always historically been a priority issue for IU and one of the actions for the enhancement of that environment was the rehabilitation of the Gold Fountain and the washrooms that were next to it, which would serve to the recreation and enjoyment of Lorca and visitors, also fulfilling the objectives of beautification of the city and the achievement of a visitable corner for the tourist, which is why they presented a motion in this regard in May 2010 that was approved unanimously.
After two years of said agreement and considering the passivity of the former PP government team, it was again insisted through another motion on the enhancement of all public space converted to solar after the demolition of the old municipal market, making an integral conditioning of the whole area, which was once again approved unanimously.
This agreement was subsequently carried out only partially with the rehabilitation of the Gold Fountain.
For all these reasons, Sosa wonders what the arduous job of presenting interesting motions for the development and enhancement of the city is, if they are then sentenced to oblivion in a drawer and urges the Mayor and the current Councilor for Works, Mrs. Casalduero, to comply with the word given in his day, not carrying out the project to build a new park, and to seek financing through the EIB or another source and thus "be able to reconstruct History", not as until now that money and resources have been squandered in projects of doubtful profitability.
