Gloria Martín has recommended to the councilor of the PP, Ángel Meca, that if he does not feel qualified to put himself in the shoes of all citizens and represent them properly, leave his act of councilor and ask for employment as a lobbyist in one of the companies he defends with so hard.
"The opposite said is to use a public office to defend very specific interests"
The councilor of the United Left-Greens in the City of Lorca, Gloria Martín, has lamented the "cynicism" and "incongruity" of the Councilor of the Popular Party, Angel Meca, who has ensured that the municipal government team (PSOE and C's) has drafted a modification of the General Plan "against farmers" in exchange for IU approving the next Municipal Budgets.
Martín reminded Meca that "the implementation of initiatives to harmonize land uses in accordance with the general interest and prevent the proliferation of pig farms that generate conflicts with existing residential uses," is part of the investiture agreements between PSOE and IU.
A document that is public so that since IU do not understand that Meca sells it as a "dark pact."
"We have always turned upside down and have opted for negotiation and for trying to reach an agreement between the parties," he said.
In any case, Martín denied that the Mayor or the Town Planning Councilor, who are the only ones with powers in this matter, have informed the IU or the neighbors of the imminent modification of the General Plan.
Therefore, Martín believes that Meca's statements are due to an attempt to "warm the environment" in the face of the concentration this Sunday promotes the platform 'Save The Counselor'.
"They have used a press article to blow up the hare and thus have an excuse to continue with their strategy of neighborhood confrontation and give wings to the livestock sector to redouble the pressures," he said.
In this regard, Martin said that Mecca has never sought "conciliation" or "concord" in this matter.
"Far from acting responsibly and trying to temper the spirits among the farmers," which is what he presumes, he uses them as a battering ram for the electoral interests of his party, contributing to create an irrespirable climate between ranchers and neighbors, "said Martin. .
The mayor of IU-Greens recalled that the PP did not even publicly condemn the death threats suffered by other councilors of the Corporation, which have not ceased, and that come from them to those who Mecca "constantly jelly."
"It is pointing to politicians, environmental groups and neighbors, accusing us of a supposed fall in the economy and the destruction of employment, knowing that whatsapp groups circulate photographs, addresses of homes or work centers next to phrases like "it makes you want to take out the shotgun" or "a shot in the brains," he added.
"Let's see if Mr. Meca finds out once that nobody is against the primary sector here," said Martin, who recalled that what IU has been asking for years is "joining positions" to order the installation of pig farms of intensive production, guaranteeing the protection of the environment and listening to the opinion of the affected neighbors, which is "the sensible thing".
"It is a lie that we are demanding the closure of farms, we try to make the model sustainable also for those who are already operating in the sector, because, otherwise, there will come a time when it will have been destroyed with everything and there will be no opportunities here for anyone, "he said.
Regarding the lack of participation that Meca now complains about, Martín recalled that during his time at the head of the municipal government, the PP kept the conciliation table for residential and livestock land uses "in an induced coma."
"He is not the most suitable to criticize contubernios or obscurantism since his party was limited to serving the interests of the livestock lobby, silencing the voice of neighbors who demand to be able to live with dignity," he said.
In this regard, the councilwoman of IU-Greens reminded Meca that the policy is not to serve particular interests but general.
"If you do not feel qualified to put yourself in the shoes of all the neighbors and represent them properly, what you should do is leave your act as a councilor and apply for a job as a lobbyist in one of the companies he advocates so hard."
"The opposite said Martin is to use a public office to ensure very specific interests."
"Lorca is paid to listen, ponder and make the best decisions for the municipality, not to act as a lack of economic power," he concluded.
