The objective of this initiative, in which a total of 420 students from ten primary schools in Lorca participated, was to raise awareness among the children of the importance of conserving natural resources or using renewable energy.
The Councilor for the Environment of the City of Lorca, José Luis Ruiz Guillén, has indicated that the winners of the I Contest "A story for your city" that was launched from this council in collaboration with the Education and are known It has developed during the past month of November and it was intended for students of 5th and 6th grade of primary education of all schools in the municipality.
Ruiz Guillén recalled that "the objective has been to raise awareness of the importance of conserving the environment around us, natural resources or the need to use renewable energy."
The mayor of the Environment wanted to thank "all participating schools for their collaboration with this new initiative, in which 420 students from the schools Alfonso X El Sabio, La Listen, San Cristóbal, Villaespesa, Virgen de las Huertas, Narciso Yepes, San Fernando, Casa del Niño and the San Francisco de Asís and Ciudad del Sol centers. "
The five environmental themes of the contest were climate change, waste recycling, household water savings, renewable energy and fauna, flora and reforestation in our municipality.
In the theme of Climate Change, the winner has been the 6 ° B course of the Colegio Virgen de las Huertas for the story: "The pain of the Earth";
in the Water Saving class, the 6 ° B class has also won, also from the Virgen de las Huertas school for the story "My magical lake";
in the Fauna, Flora and Reforestation section in our municipality, the 5th year course of CEIP Alfonso X El Sabio has won the prize for his work "A dream come true";
on the topic of Renewable Energies the story "What will happen when ...? 6 ° A of the Virgen de las Huertas School has been the winning work; and finally, on the topic of Waste Recycling the class of 6 ° B of the Colegio San Francisco de Asís has been the winner with the story "Super R".
Ruiz Guillén added that "the five winning stories have been published on the web www.agenda21.lorca.es where they can be read and the winners have been presented with three tickets for the children's play" Sim Saladín: La Pandilla de Drilo " , at the Guerra de Lorca Theater, scheduled for Wednesday, December 4, starting at 6:30 p.m.
