The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, met today with the residents of the Lorca district of Campillo to present the works that the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS) must carry out to solve the problem of flooding in that area, They go through building a channel that connects the Ramblas of Béjar and Biznaga.
"Promoting all flood prevention initiatives is a priority that the regional president has marked us after the month of September," said the counselor, noting that it is essential that the CHS directs the middle part of the Rambla de Biznaga waters above its intersection with the road that connects Lorca with Purias.
He also urged the State to expedite previous work to start these works as soon as possible.
Díez de Revenga congratulated the working group, composed of members of the regional and local administrations, together with the Confederation and the Irrigation Community, for working “intensely” to collect demands and proposals, among which is also connecting the channels of irrigation with the Rambla Biznaga to act as a drain for the entire flood plain.
"The irrigators have plenty of arguments to request this link of the channels that would prevent damage when these waters are dispersed," said the regional official, who recalled the need to accelerate the construction of containment dams on the Ramblas of Béjar, La Torrecilla and Nogalte to laminate the water in the upper areas of the basin.
