In IU-V they trust that the investigation will be carried out with decision and due diligence and announce that they will request the extension of the same to the millionaire investments of the Master Plan of the Cultural Heritage of Lorca for the lack of public return of money that is only fattening the private real estate assets of a dozen rich families of Lorca
After becoming public that the Fraud Investigations Division of the European Investment Bank (EIB) has opened an investigation on the loan of 185 million euros granted to the Government of Murcia in 2012 to finance the reconstruction of Lorca after the earthquakes, political training complainant has appeared this morning before the media to make a first assessment.
The two councilors who make up the Municipal Group of IU-V, Pedro Sosa and Gloria Martín, accompanied by the Regional Coordinator of left-wing training, José Luis Alvárez Castellanos, have praised the speed with which European organizations have responded to the complaint formalized just one month ago by the IU MEP, Sira Rego, before the European Investment Bank (EIB).
Sosa recalled that this is a complaint that IU-V has made public on several occasions over the past few years, since they were surprised to see how public budgets and official bulletins published black on white that, with money finalist from the EIB For the earthquake in Lorca, roads were being fixed and roundabouts were being built in Águilas, Mazarrón, Puerto Lumbreras, etc.
And this, adds the IU-V Spokesman, in the context of some reconstruction works in Lorca characterized by "lack of control, obscurantism, lack of planning, coordination, information and citizen participation, non-establishment of priorities and adjudication from them to large foreign companies with subcontracting of the works. "
Sosa has also announced that they will request the extension of the investigations to the millionaire investments of the Master Plan of the Cultural Heritage of Lorca for the lack of public return of a money that is only fattening the private real estate assets of a dozen rich families of Lorca.
For its part, the councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes Lorca, Gloria Martín, has recriminated the regional government that "twists the language" to make believe that the actions undertaken by the EIB Fraud Investigations Division are "a simple ordinary procedure of evaluation".
Regarding the object of the complaint, the mayor showed official documents of the EIB that clearly state that the 185 million had to be invested, in full, to "finance investments for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of buildings and infrastructure" damaged by the earthquakes in Lorca 2011 Specifically, for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of homes, for the actions of recovery of the heritage provided by the Ministry of Culture in the "Master Plan for the Recovery of Cultural Heritage of Lorca", for the rehabilitation of public schools and educational centers, and for the repair and reconstruction of only two regional roads, RM 701 (which goes from Lorca to Baños de la Fuensanta) and RM 621 (Lorca-Purias).
However, in the annexes of actions related to the earthquake of Lorca financed by the EIB and that are part of the regional budgets of 2015 to 2019, they appear, with the description "SEISMO LORCA 2011", up to seven road repairs that do not even They run through the municipality of Lorca and yes through Águilas, Totana, Mazarrón or Puerto Lumbreras, some worth one million euros.
Martin recalled that all parties with representation in the City of Lorca knew these facts.
Also the PSOE that, in April 2018, by mouth of who is now a councilor of the municipal government team, Antonio Navarro, demanded the stoppage of the process of adjudication of the construction of a roundabout in Puerto Lumbreras that the Ministry of Development had taken to tender under the EIB money.
In tow of a complaint by IU-Verdes, Navarro then said that the loan was "finalist" and denounced that the regional government will take the money "where it does not apply."
Those statements were answered by the local PP who reproached that part of the same loan was also destined to performances in Águilas, governed by the Socialists.
Martín recalled that before, in December 2017, the PSOE also forced the holding of a monographic Extraordinary Plenary session in the City of Lorca to "clear up doubts" about "errors and irregularities" related to works financed under said loan, as explained by Diego José Mateos, today mayor of Lorca.
Therefore, Martin said he did not understand the attitude of Mateos, who yesterday relied on the "correct use" by the CARM of funds from the EIB for the recovery of Lorca.
"We understand that the mayor may be nervous because there are many works still to be done and that depend on the loan, but that is not incompatible with demanding total transparency and that that money be used for the proper purposes and with full guarantees," said Martin.
"IU-Verdes is not going to contribute to cover possible fraud committed with money that comes out of the taxpayers' pocket," he concluded.
Finally, the Regional Coordinator of IU-V, José Luis Alvárez Castellanos, has pointed out that his presence in the press conference highlights the importance of the news for the regional direction of his political formation, since it not only he again doubts the ballasting credibility of the regional government of Murcia before his own society, before the country and before Europe, but also puts again "at the foot of the horses the Region of Murcia itself."
The Coordinator of IU-V has stated that an evident proof of the disastrous management that the regional government of the PP and Citizens are making of the EIB loan, after seven and a half years since its granting, is the fact that to date they have been requested no less than five extensions for its execution, and, three of them, in the last year and a half.
José Luis Alvárez Castellanos argues that after repeated complaints by IU-V at the local headquarters about the innumerable irregularities accumulated in the management of the aid, and with responses that have not passed the denial, opacity and lack of transparency, finally the IU colleagues from Lorca have been forced to resort to our Parliamentary Group in Europe.
The speed with which the EIB Fraud Evaluation Office has responded to the IU deputy.
Sira Rego, confirms to IU leaders that the signs of irregularity are clear and meridian, the Regional Coordinator of left-wing formation has concluded.
