Through the workshops taught by the Department of Health, with the collaboration of FAMPA, about 1,500 students of the IES Arcas Meca and Ros Giner will receive talks within the program 'Knock down your wall, addictions of the 21st century' through the project "pilot" that will be extended to the rest of the IES of the municipality.
The Councilor for Health of the City of Lorca, José Ángel Ponce, has presented the talks launched in a pioneering way, through which almost 1500 students of the IES Ramón Arcas Meca and Francisco Ros Giner will begin to receive information on the risk of the adictions.
The councilor of Health has explained that "these talks are included in the Project of Education and Prevention of addictions of the 21st century, under the slogan 'Knock down your wall, addictions of the 21st century'. A" pilot "project that we pioneered in the municipality, and that we are convinced will take us through all Lorca IES during this school year and following ".
Ponce has stressed that "the intention is to delve into the solution to what is already a social clamor about a scourge that we are going, little by little, accepting within our model of society and family, without taking into account the consequences that are short and long term, as well as the collateral damage that we are already seeing in our young people. "
"We must intervene from within the problem, facilitating the tools through the solving agents (family, teachers, ...) and detecting their creators."
The mayor said that "this project aims to make the Region a pioneer in this innovative project, since the global framework itself is what makes this model we want to implement something unique, since we work on the whole range of addictions, of substance and behavioral, without exception, whether cataloged or not, such as cyberbullyng, substance addictions, gambling, gambling, eating habits, anorexia, bulimia, vigorexia, harassment, bullyng, disconnection of ICTs, healthy use of the USSR, among others ".
The councilor added that "for this there will be a table of top-level, diverse and specialized actors, with direct actors from the world of addictions, psychologists of recognized prestige in this field, entrepreneurs from the world of betting, lotteries and games of chance, of young leisure, event organizers for the youth of our Region.
Specialists in the audiovisual and advertising sector, elite athletes, all of them with a common link, with the same common thread that is to show the reality of the world of gambling, of healthy habits as allies in our lives, and night entertainment well understood, among others. "
Presentations and activities of dynamization will be carried out in the different schools, with talks addressed to parents, teachers and teachers, conceived in a space outside the school environment, another for the students themselves that will be carried out within the school environment.
Once the presentations have been made, it will be the turn of the group dynamics, for four days, with different groups of students who in the different classrooms will interact with different dynamics, all of them on addictions.
"This City Council is not going to remain on the sidelines while we see how gambling or gambling are creating a public health problem that needs to be addressed. That is why we will do everything in our power to offer our young people, to their families, and to their surroundings, the necessary tools to avoid this type of behavior, "he said.
Young people and the consumption of new technologies
The mayor of Youth has lamented that "we are currently experiencing a change in access to culture, while also changing habits of exchange and relationships between people and institutions."
Ponce has lamented that "although technologies are tools that, used responsibly, can provide great value in areas such as information, communication, work, learning or leisure; they allow improving the accessibility of certain groups to certain cultural and social assets , its misuse and abuse of new technologies causes the opposite effect to the desired one. "
Today, health professionals debate whether or not we should talk about 'addiction' or 'abusive use' of New Technologies since only gambling addiction is collected, and we cannot say that "there is something that can be called "addiction" to ICT, or any of them separately, but it is a problem of increasing importance. "
Problems associated with the use of these devices and applications that can affect school performance, cause disciplinary problems, impaired neurological development, alternative socialization, future involvement in other addictive behaviors, consequences for mental health, and many and many possible consequences, among others .
In the case of adolescence there is a higher risk of misuse and abuse of them, as a result of having low self-esteem and being in a family situation of risk that can range from lack of family communication, to lack of trust from parents to teenagers.
