The Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Tourism, Francisco Morales, has participated with technicians of the Department in the assembly.

Greater promotion in the national market, and projects focused on Judeo-Spanish, Sephardic gastronomy and online training of tour guides, will mark the activity during 2020

The Department of Tourism of the City of Lorca, with Francisco Morales at the head, has participated together with technicians of the Department, in the 53rd General Assembly of the Network of Jewish Quarters of Spain that took place in Jaén on December 11 and 12 .

The assembly was chaired by Julio Millán, mayor of Jaén, as the city that occupies the presidency of the Network, and in it numerous institutional representatives of the 22 cities that are part of it have participated.

It should be remembered that our municipality was integrated as a full member in the previous General Assembly held in October.

The Red de Juderías de España, Caminos de Sefarad, is an association made up of municipalities that have an architectural, historical, environmental and cultural heritage, inherited from the Jewish Communities that inhabited them.

The objective of this network is to act jointly in defense of the historical heritage and Jewish legacy, promoting cultural, tourist and academic projects and carrying out a policy of exchange of national and international experiences that contribute to the mutual knowledge and respect of peoples, cultures and traditions.

During the Assembly, different matters of interest were worked on, mainly the Budget and the new projects for the year 2020, encompassed both in the area of ​​Tourism Promotion and in the areas of Education or Culture.

These proposals include, among others, the intensification of activities focused on greater national promotion, and three new projects around Judeo-Spanish, Sephardic gastronomy and the formation of guides on an online content platform.

The celebration of the Assembly had several activities, such as the presentation of the tourist guides of the cities of the Red de Juderías that can be consulted on the website www.redjuderias.org-, a guided tour of the Jewish Jaén, and an institutional meal .
