The program, which will be underway until July 2020, will allow up to 10,000 people to acquire the basic knowledge necessary to assist in case of cardiac arrest or choking while waiting for the arrival of health services.
The Department of Emergencies of the City of Lorca, Isabel Casalduero, have presented a training plan for cardiopulmonary rehabilitation (CPR) for schools and associations in Lorca.
Casalduero explained that "the Department of Emergencies of the City of Lorca, through the grouping of Civil Protection volunteers, makes available to schools, associations, sports clubs and other entities, a training plan with the objective of training adults and schoolchildren from primary school in actions aimed at immediate assistance in cases of cardiac arrest or choking. "
The Edil has detailed that "we have prepared sessions of one hour, taught by members of Civil Protection and Emergency Service, in which following the guidelines of the European Resuscitation Council (ERC), students will practice how to make a call to 112 ; cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers with dolls specially enabled for it; lateral position of safety of a victim and the Heimlich maneuver in a choking situation ".
"Each session contains about 20 minutes of theoretical learning through slides and videos and, the rest of the time, is dedicated to practicing resuscitation maneuvers with special material in small groups of eight people for each monitor," said the councilor.
The Councilor for Emergencies has announced that "courses have already been developed in several schools, which has allowed the learning of more than 800 children" and has shown that "the deadline for applications remains open and we hope to triple the applications received until now".
"Colleges such as Ana Caicedo, Pérez de Hita, Sacred Heart, La Campana or San Juan; Secondary Education Institutes such as Francisco Ros Giner, Sierra del Almenara or Pedanías Altas, the University Campus of Lorca, through the degree in Nutrition and Dietetics; Associations such as Asofem and Nypacold or sports clubs such as Lorca Club de Fútbol Base and Lorca-Santiago already have the date to be trained in basic and simple life-saving performances. "
Isabel Casalduero stressed that "the training plan will be developed until July 2020 and the forecast is to reach 500 sessions with a range that exceeds 10,000 participants and thus provide them with the basic notions to immediately give proper attention to the victim while waiting for the arrival of health services. "
The Edil has added that "we are aware that, unexpectedly, emergency situations occur motivated by people suffering from cardiorespiratory stops. That is why, from the Department of Emergencies, we consider it essential to impart basic notions about cardiopulmonary rehabilitation since According to multiple studies, it is estimated that survival at a cardiorespiratory arrest triples if a basic CPR is performed correctly.
