Gloria Martín criticized the propaganda distribution of a private school in the Reyes cavalcade and the "gross commodification" of an institutional event aimed especially at children, especially when everything indicates that there has been no consideration for the City Council or for the protagonists of these celebrations that are boys and girls
The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Gloria Martín, has asked the municipal government team for explanations about the advertising events carried out by several private companies in the Christmas activities organized by the City Council.
Martín has referred, for example, to the Reyes parade held on January 5.
Among the entourage, he was surprised by the presence of several young people dressed in T-shirts from a private school located in the municipality, to whom no one prevented the distribution of publicity of said company among the attending public, despite being prohibited by the ordinance of protection of the citizen coexistence
"The City Council has charged said merchant for the distribution of pasquines in full ride of Kings? What are the criteria established for a company to choose to use propaganda distributors in an event of these characteristics? Do any other? "asked the mayor.
Martin has criticized that it is precisely a local administration governed by the PSOE that allows "promotion work" of a private school in a public event borne by the municipal coffers, so he has asked the councilors responsible for that fact.
"Our model is not that of the exclusive prominence and promotion of companies, but that of the participation of neighborhood, social and public institutions including schools as it did in La Viña, in the Barrio or in Zarzadilla de Totana," said Martín who applauded these citizen initiatives.
The councilwoman of IU-Verdes has also expressed her complaint because the cavalcade of the city served for the exhibition of cars labeled with advertising of car dealerships "just to fill in" and that they did not fulfill any function except that of promoting private businesses "." Instead of the feast of illusion and fantasy, it looked like an outlet fair, "said Martín.
In this regard, the mayor of IU-Verdes lamented the "gross commercialization" of an institutional event aimed especially at children, "especially when everything indicates that there has been no consideration for the City Council or for the protagonists of these celebrations that are the boys and girls. "
"At this rate, they will end up screen printing company logos on the robes of the Magi or the councilors will go to the plenary with sponsored tracksuits," he said ironically.
On the other hand, Gloria Martín has also asked the municipal government team to clarify whether there is a sponsorship contract between the City Council and the companies that used the structure for the projection of a video mapping on the facade of the City Council as an advertising site.
It is a shopping center, a construction company and several car dealers on which Martin has demanded to know what share of participation they have had in the cost of that activity.
"We are not sure if these companies have helped reduce the cost of a video mapping paid for with public money in exchange for the publicity they enjoyed this Christmas," said Martin.
Therefore, the mayor asked for "transparency" to the current government team, which has demanded to stop giving publicity to certain companies and be careful with the institutional image of the City Council.
