Councilwoman Gloria Martín has asked the Mayor to report this circumstance to the Delegation of the Government in Murcia so that the situation of the affected Lorca is resolved, mainly women who lost their jobs due to the crisis in the real estate or textile sectors in the municipality

The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Gloria Martín, has warned today of the delay in the granting of unemployment benefits for people over 52 years approved by the Government of Spain through a Royal Decree Law last March.

Several residents of Lorca have contacted the IU-Verdes councilor to inform them of a delay of at least five months for the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) to issue the necessary certificate for the Provincial Directorate of the Public State Employment Service (SEPE) can process applications and preceptors begin to collect the subsidy.

Those affected, who have already submitted complaints to the Provincial Directorate of the SEPE, are willing to request protection from the Ombudsman to resolve their situation if said certificate is not issued within ten days.

Although it is not a competition that affects the City Council, Martín has asked the Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, to report this circumstance to the Delegation of the Government in Murcia so that it requests the reinforcement of the necessary technical and human resources to avoid paralysis in granting aid.

Martín explained that the majority of applicants for the subsidy of 430 euros per month are women who lost their jobs due to the crisis in Lorca of the real estate or textile sectors and that, given their age and their high level of specialization, they find "many difficulties "to rejoin the labor market.

Apart from the relief that these people have for the domestic economy, for most of them it is the only opportunity to be able to access a decent pension when the time comes, given that this subsidy "is the only one that quotes for retirement "Martin explained.

In order to access it, applicants must prove, among other requirements, a monthly income of less than 75% of the Minimum Wage (less than 675 euros per month) and have contributed 15 years.
