In the ordinary municipal Plenary session of February 2017, three years will be made next month, a proposal by the United Left was unanimously approved so that the municipality of Lorca adhered to the Contracting Center of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP ).
With this initiative in the form of a motion, the proposing group sought to achieve significant savings to the municipality in terms of general contracting and, particularly, in the area of electricity supply.
The IU Spokesman, Pedro Sosa, argues that, according to those responsible for that Federation, in the framework agreements signed between the FEMP and the supply companies, very competitive prices are achieved for the municipalities, with discounts exceeding 8%.
Apart from the economic savings that come from going to the market to buy electricity for hundreds of municipalities, Sosa also points out other advantages of using the central contracting of local entities: administrative simplification, improved management, additional cost savings in matters of contracting procedures, transparency, etc.
Sosa has pointed out that the last award made by the City of Lorca was formalized with IBERDROLA last December 2019, for an amount of no less than 6,483,848 euros.
Sosa has made accounts and affirms that in three years the Lorca have been able to lose more than a million and a half euros, while the different councilors of the Treasury (the first PP, and now the PSOE) thought about the shrews.
For that reason, he argues that someone has to give explanations about the continued breach of an agreement that will be three years old, and, in that sense, he will sue the current councilor of the Treasury, Isidro Abellán, to explain the reasons why It implements a measure that could be so positive for local public coffers.
