The Councilor for Emergencies, Isabel Casalduero, participated, this morning, in Murcia in a coordination meeting with the Director General of Emergencies, Antonio Mula and with those responsible for all municipalities that could be affected by this storm.
The City of Lorca has activated the state of preemergence before the arrival of the Gloria storm, a mass of cold air coming from the interior of the European continent, which together with the humidity of the Mediterranean will come with strong wind and possibility of snowfall from 500 altitude meters
The Councilor for Emergencies, Isabel Casalduero, has participated, this morning, in Murcia, together with municipal technicians, in the General Directorate of Emergencies in a coordination meeting with the Director General of Emergencies, Antonio Mula and with heads of all municipalities that could be affected by the storm.
Casalduero recalled that "the level of warning provided by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) from 12 noon on Sunday, January 19 and until next Tuesday, January 21, is orange by force winds 8 to 9 in the coastal area with waves of 3 meters at night, and winds of up to 70 km in the Guadalentín Valley, Lorca and Águilas, and snow accumulation of up to 4 centimeters. "
Casalduero Jódar has detailed that "the Department of Emergencies has five all-terrain vehicles, one of them provided with a snow blade and salt shaker, to address the incidents and possible rescue of vehicles that could be trapped due to snow. It is also planned the intervention, if necessary, of different heavy machinery for cleaning roads and streets in the high districts of Lorca. "
From the Department of Emergencies advised to take into account the following protective measures against a cold and snow wave:
BEFORE
• Always have flashlights, batteries and a radio.
• Keep the phone fully charged.
• Wear the right clothes.
It is better to put several thin clothes on top of each other than a very fat one
• Always carry the medications required by a family member
• Find out about roads and weather conditions.
• Have a full tank and carry utensils in the car such as blankets and some food.
DURING
• Follow the information through official sources.
• Do not go out by car.
Use public transport if possible.
• If you have no choice but to go out by car, do it during the day and do not do it alone.
Check the car before leaving.
• Wrap your feet, hands and head well.
Prevents cold air from entering the lungs.
• Do not perform excessive physical exercises, the cold is not good for circulation.
• Close everything that can produce current.
• Avoid poisoning caused by coal braziers, wood or gas stoves in enclosed areas without air renewal.
• Keep a tap slightly open intermittently to prevent freezing of pipes.
AFTER
• Collaborate personally and with the means you have in cleaning.
• Do not take garbage to the street if the collection service is suspended.
• It is convenient to clean the snow and ice in front of your home, but do not use water because it can freeze.
• Do not listen or share unreliable information from neighbors or WhatsApp.
