The councilor of the United Left-Greens, Gloria Martín, has suggested to the City Council to launch a mobile application that serves as a direct and bidirectional communication channel between the neighbors and the town hall.
Martín recalled that more than 400 Spanish municipalities, many of them smaller than Lorca, already have, for example, the Green Line service.
It is an app that can be downloaded for free on smartphones (both for IOS App Store- and Android Google Play), whereby the City Council draws on information and communications of incidents provided by neighbors and, in turn , the neighbors are informed in real time of all the issues that the city council disseminates.
The councilwoman of IU has explained that, for example, the City Council could inform the neighbors who use this application of issues related to air quality or with weather alerts.
It is a service "very useful for its immediacy and agility, both at the municipal level and for the neighbors," said Martin, who stressed that municipalities in the Region such as Murcia, Molina de Segura, Águilas or Alcantarilla already have similar applications.
In this regard, the councilwoman of IU-Greens has lamented that the previous government team presumed to have placed Lorca in the network of smart cities as a Smart City when the Lorca people lack a tool that they do have in even smaller towns.
The councilor explained that, through this tool, the neighbors would communicate their incidents, that they would arrive directly at the appropriate service, and could even monitor them, unlike what happens with the citizen mailbox.
The same service could be offered through a specific website and a telephone number for those neighbors who have more difficulty accessing new technologies.
Martín has assured that this new tool would be very important to improve municipal services and that they are "even more efficient, fast and accessible".
In that sense, the councilor of the United Left has publicly congratulated the Rapid Intervention Brigade (BIR) that is dedicated to repair the various deteriorations that occur in the streets or in the street furniture and that came into operation in June 2018, and has asked to "boost" this service.
