The second edition of the Livestock Forum, promoted by Adespolorca, will take place next Friday, January 31 at the Teatro Guerra de Lorca, with the aim of promoting the regional livestock sector and, in particular, the one referring to the pig sector, in which Murcia is the third province of Spain in production.
The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment, Antonio Luengo, highlighted in the presentation that "it is a sector that is sensitive to the environment in which you should carry out your activity, and accredits you wanting to go further in your constant search for competitiveness and excellence and opening the doors to a space for calm reflection on the hottest issues, such as, on this occasion, the sustainable management of this industry, and not only as an obligation, but as a need and a conviction. "
Thus, in the day that will take place on the morning of next Friday, the presentations will focus on the challenge of environmental sustainability;
control and reduction of pollutant emissions through precision feeding;
the best techniques available in the environmental field;
sustainability and biosecurity through on-site incineration;
slurry management as an emerging need;
and the slurry as an opportunity to take advantage.
Luengo recalled that the pig census in Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras has 136,000 breeders and 676,200 bait animals, and that the amount adds up to "quality and good health, and a decisive contribution to those 1,000 million euros that moves our regional livestock sector. "
