The spokesman of the Popular Party in the City of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has proposed that the Municipal Consistory develop the project of "New Alamedas", the most ambitious commitment in terms of generation of green areas, recreation, leisure and recreation that has been put on the table in the history of our city.

It is about making more than 10 kilometers of green corridors available to all Lorca in the city center, a tool that we know would be vital for our municipality, and that acquires greater relevance and need now if we take into account that the new legislation requires The cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants provide this type of natural equipment, free of emissions and pollution, as a resource to combat episodes of air quality incidents, such as the one that forced the center of traffic to be closed to traffic last Saturday. city, and whose consequences we all already know.

Now it is about providing Lorca with a large Green Corridor, in the heart of the city, developing an experience similar to that carried out in other large cities with the channel of its ramblas, such as Almería or Valencia.
San Fernando-Campillo neighborhood: spearhead.
The first step in this direction would be the central green corridor that would depart from the San Fernando round and would have an extension of 3 kilometers towards Campillo, taking advantage of the existing irrigation channel, which will be adequate and put in value for the meeting, the sports practice and healthy exercise, becoming a space of great ecological and environmental value, with gardens, recreation areas with kitchen (in the style of those in the park of La Salud, in La Hoya), pergolas for cultural events (concerts, poetry recitals, book presentations and events ...), in addition to parks with children's games, among other resources.
We propose to convert the riverbed in its passage through the center of the city under the Pasarela and Puente del Barrio to La Velica, after its adaptation.
In the same way, a green corridor can be created from the La Peñica Park in parallel to the Guadalentín along the entire margin opposite the riverbank to El Escarambrujo.
Nueva Alamedas would also be the spaces released after the underground route of the train as it passed through the city center, which will include greenways for cyclists, pedestrians and runners.
The main element in this whole project, which we propose to start processing and execute immediately, is the trees, the shady areas and the conformation of a family recreation and recreation area that will be a reference for the entire Autonomous Community and the neighboring regions for which we are sub-regional capital and county seat.
