Gloria Martín has demanded the participation of other municipal groups, neighborhood associations, AMPAS, trade unions or cultural organizations in an organ that only has CECLOR and the Chamber of Commerce, and that follows the model that the PP implemented last year
The councilor of the United Left-Greens in the City of Lorca, Gloria Martín, has criticized that the Monitoring Commission for the management of the Regional Interest Project (AIR) of the Historic District meets today "without the contest or participation" of others social agents "who also deserve to have a voice in this initiative".
Martín recalled that the configuration of this body only includes the municipal government team (PSOE and C's), the regional executive (PP and C's) and the Regional Confederation of Business Organizations of Lorca (CECLOR).
The Chamber of Commerce will also be incorporated in today's meeting.
This is a model created by the Popular Party just before the municipal and regional elections of 2019 and that "has only been modified to include the Chamber of Commerce, without even taking into account the other municipal groups with representation in the Town hall".
"We are tired of feeling like we are stinking," he said.
Therefore, IU-Verdes continues to demand the participation in this body of the "legitimate representatives of Lorca," and also of workers and neighborhood and cultural groups.
"Maybe if at the time they had been taken into account, and not only businessmen, today we would not regret that the historic center is practically dead because commercial life has gone to the outskirts of the city," he said.
Gloria Martín has assured that the employer cannot be the only champion of this project.
"We oppose this approach, because we understand that in the arduous task of recovering the historic center, workers, neighborhood associations, AMPAS of local schools, cultural associations, or merchants and hoteliers deserve the same prominence. , whether or not they are part of CECLOR or the Chamber of Commerce, "he said.
For Martin, it is not just about revitalizing the historic center from a business perspective since this project "must also address the cultural, neighborhood and social reality of the area."
That is why IU-Verdes believes that the participation of any organization is positive, but always from a "publicly" management model.
Therefore, it has demanded that the municipal and regional governments "stop excluding a large part of society in this initiative."
Gloria Martín has also criticized that despite the fact that the AIR of the Historic Center of Lorca was announced as "priority" by the regional government of Fernando López Miras (PP and C's), the 2020 regional budget project does not include any budget allocation For this performance.
Therefore, he recalled that the rehabilitation of the historic center of Lorca needs "will" and "political agreement", but also "economic support."
In this regard, he regretted that "not a cent" of the loan of 185 million euros from the European Investment Bank for the rehabilitation of the historic center has been allocated, so in the end, "we will have an auditorium that did not even exist before the earthquakes and this, which is a priority, continues as it was.
