The president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, stressed today that "the recovery of the historic center of Lorca is one of the most important and most important projects of this legislature and will serve to boost not only the city or the region, but the whole Region of Murcia ".

"This project can be a regional example of private public collaboration," said the head of the Regional Executive, who chaired the meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the project for the recovery of the historic center of Lorca, in which the Autonomous Community is represented , the City of Lorca, the Regional Confederation of Business Organizations of Lorca (Ceclor) and the Chamber of Commerce of Lorca.

He also explained that Lorca was the first artistic historical group declared as such in the Region of Murcia, specifically in 1964, and said that "that value must be recovered and put at the service of Lorca."

"It is urgent to do so," said López Miras, who was confident in the future of the project "since it is an initiative promoted by entrepreneurs."

In addition, he referred to the "many aspects in which we must work", among which he mentioned the revision of the regulations "so that investment in the historic center of Lorca can be facilitated provided that it is compatible with the protection of the heritage".

He also pointed to the search for funding and said "Europe can be an interesting source."

"It is a reality that the historic center of Lorca is depopulating, losing its dynamism and ceasing to be that economic and social contribution that has always been for the city of Lorca, so we must get to work to recover it," said the president.
