"Actually, it has been bought by the company to which the City Council rents vehicles"
The Councilor of the Popular Party in the City of Lorca, Juan Miguel Bayonas, has claimed this morning that the current local government assumes and effectively and immediately fulfills the municipal commitment regarding the integral renewal of the urban public transport fleet, a measure that was already contemplated and planned by the City Council, but that has been blocked without explanation by the current mayor.
We must indicate that the current local government has more than enough resources and mechanisms to execute the agreement, continuing with the improvement of the urban bus that was undertaken by the Popular Party, thanks to the decision to rescue the concession of the service and assume its provision directly through the municipal company Limusa.
It is evident that thanks to this determination, a new stage could be initiated regarding urban transport, opening up new possibilities for improvement that had as a direct consequence a significant increase in the number of urban bus users.
The Lorca people have a historic opportunity that we can not miss to continue with the implementation of developments and improvements in our urban transport service.
The first of these is to comply with the comprehensive renewal of the fleet of vehicles, a measure that was already prepared and underway.
We do not understand why they have made the decision to paralyze it, so today we demand that it be unlocked, proceeding to purchase new buses.
What we will not allow is that after so much it has cost us all to improve urban transport we suffer a setback.
On February 28 they released a press release stating that "The municipal company Limusa acquires a new bus", something that is outright and manifestly LIE.
They have tried to hide it, cover this issue, until after being inquiring about the issue and when we already knew the truth about it, it was the City Hall itself that has had no choice but to recognize in writing the Popular Party that "It is not of an acquisition by the municipal company Limusa ".
Therefore, it is demonstrated that the councilors of Limusa, Francisco Morales, and Transport, Irene Jódar, staged a "theater", unworthy and unnecessary.
These types of episodes should be saved, nothing rewarding.
This bizarre pantomime, pretending to have acquired a vehicle, is an episode that should not be repeated.
We encourage you not to give rise to the mayor's office having to rectify their fallacy, leaving both councilors in a very bad place.
Hereinafter we ask you to be aware of important things.
We are pleased that the company to which the buses are rented has bought a new vehicle, but it is a very crude hoax that they have been tempted to say that Limusa had acquired that bus.
That was not much what was planned, we will not allow Lorca to give us "cat for a hare", but we demand that they comply with the commitments acquired in their entirety.
Moreover, we are going to claim that they also fully assume the demands that they themselves demanded when they were in the opposition and now try to hide.
The popular demand that the urban transport service be free and free for all users when there are episodes of incidents in air quality, as is already done in most cities.
Juan Miguel Bayonas has also informed that the PP insists that urban transport be free for Lorca when there are episodes of pollution that require the activation of level 2. This is one of the measures that Spanish municipalities More than 50,000 inhabitants are adopting, within the global strategy of defense of the environment and fight against the contamination that is being developed in Spain under the declaration of the climatic and environmental emergency.
This is a measure taken in response to the general consensus of the scientific community, which demands urgent action to safeguard the environment, health and safety of citizens.
We bet that Lorca demonstrate the commitment and priority given to these actions.
Juan Miguel Bayonas said that this measure would be easy and quick to apply, given that urban transport does not currently depend on any company as in other locations, but is being managed directly by the City Council.
We are talking about an action that is already being carried out to combat this type of impact on air quality in cities with similar characteristics to ours, taking the closest example to the municipality of Murcia.
From the PP we believe that it would be an effective measure and would encourage citizens to leave their vehicles and take advantage of the urban transport service to carry out their journeys, contributing to reducing polluting emissions from cars and motorcycles.
