The City Council of Lorca and the Association of Neighbors thank all the people and entities that collaborate with this celebration, as well as the understanding of the citizens, after having had to adopt this decision.
Following the recommendations established by the Ministry and the Ministry of Health in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the Neighborhood Association of the Barrio de San José, together with the City of Lorca, have decided to postpone the celebration of the patron saint festivities they had planned to be held between March 14 and 22.
This has been decided by the Neighborhood Association after a meeting held on the afternoon of this Wednesday, March 11, in which the mayor of the city, Diego José Mateos, and the Councilor for Celebrations and Health, José Ángel Ponce, were present.
This decision, adopted unanimously by those present, has the main objective of avoiding the crowds of people who may favor the spread of this disease, since, among other activities, dance exhibitions, fairground facilities and concerts were planned in which, as every year, expected the attendance of thousands of people.
The City Council of Lorca and the Association of Neighbors have thanked all the people and entities that collaborate with the celebration of these festivities and, in the same way, the understanding of the citizens, after having had to adopt this decision in line with the guidelines that national and international health authorities mark to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
For his part, the president of the AAVV San José, Antonio Mota, thanked all the residents "for their understanding after taking this average, to which we have been forced, because health must be above leisure and fun" .
