The 107 infractions have been detected in facilities of the same company
The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has carried out an investigation to verify possible irregularities in livestock farms in Lorca, which has resulted in the complaint to the same company more than a hundred complaints regarding the development of pig farming itself, the illegal collection of groundwater and the irregular use of spring water.
The actions began at the end of last year 2019, when, thanks to citizen collaboration, civil guards from the Nature Protection Service were informed of alleged irregularities affecting the environment in the municipality of Lorca.
After collecting the corresponding complaints to the citizens, the Civil Guard began an inspection work, which lasted five months and in which more than fifty inspections have been carried out on farms with an area of ​​land that is around 1,600 hectares , located in the upper districts of the municipality of Lorca.
These inspections have allowed civil guards to locate and report a large number of activities and work that were being carried out illegally.
During these actions, 107 administrative infractions related to the development of the activity of livestock farms in the pig sector have been detected, showing deficiencies, construction of new pig farms without authorization, illegal collection of groundwater (wells) and irregularities in the use of water from springs.
The infractions detected, which are regulated by the Water Law, the regulations on the management of pig farms and the Land Law, have been allegedly committed by the same company.
