| Activating youth volunteerism to encourage people from Lorca to collaborate with those who are most suffering the effects of this crisis | This political formation has announced that it will channel its economic and social contribution to help Cáritas achieve the general objective of being able to serve 400 families: "we have to think about what we can do for Lorca"The councilor for Social Care in the City of Lorca for the Popular Party, Mayte Martínez, and the coordinator of New Generations of the PP, José Miguel Millán, have reported that the Popular Party joins the "Sponsor a family" campaign, an initiative of Cáritas to attend to the families that have more needs due to the social effects of the COVID-19 crisis.
Its objective is to be able to feed families without resources and with real basic problems, who come to their doors every day asking for help.
This project consists of sponsoring a family for three months, which is what has been estimated from Cáritas as the most peremptory term, collaborating financially for the sustenance of it.The coordinator of the NNGG, José Miguel Millán, explained that New Generations wants to be the loudspeaker of this Cáritas initiative, and calls for Lorca's social solidarity, because perhaps again it will be your turn and we will also be there.
The objective is to reach the 400 sponsored families, as a basis for the needs that arise.
We appeal to the solidarity of the people of Lorca, which we have already demonstrated other times.
It is time for all of us to think about what we can do for Lorca: each gesture and each contribution, sum, because drop after drop becomes a river.From the PP they have indicated that we must be aware that the social, economic and labor consequences of the crisis caused by Covid-19 are and will be very serious, and they will modify thoughts, attitudes and even the way of understanding the world that around us.
However, we are committed to learning from the most difficult situations, as the people of Lorca have already been able to do with such clear examples as those of the 2011 earthquake and the 2012 floods.
It is about learning the lesson, taking it on and being resilient to get ahead.
These situations can bring out the most caring side of our society, arising feelings that strengthen the bonds of union between citizens.We are talking about helping people in situations of vulnerability, whose number is already around a thousand families, through a social volunteering that is going to be developed by the young people of New Generations, who are going to be in charge of spreading throughout the municipality the "Sponsor a family" initiative, to which we request that groups, companies, foundations, brotherhoods, AMPAS, associations, entities and individuals from Lorca be added, from a neighborhood association, to sports clubs, including groups of friends or any group of people to help those who need it most, sponsoring a family in a situation of social vulnerability.COVID-19 brings with it a general transformation that should lead us to strengthen family support networks and social solidarity.
This will be one of the most important ways to deal with the economic crisis and the social conflicts derived from the pandemic.
This social responsibility calls on the commitment of everyone, individuals and groups, to establish mutual aid, with a proactive attitude.Helping the people who need it most is one of the forms of solidarity that we have at our fingertips, and if that help is selfless and is implemented altruistically, its value increases exponentially.
Currently there are families from Lorca who are already in financial trouble, and requests for basic benefits have tripled.
