The Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, was satisfied after hearing the news that the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS) has put out to tender the drafting of the project for protection works against floods in the Ramblas of Bejar and Biznaga " . The Mayor of Lorca has pointed out that "the CHS has begun the procedures for the tender of the technical specifications sheet for the drafting of the project for flood protection works in the Ramblas of Béjar and Biznaga, both in our municipal area.

Good news for our municipality and that will allow residents of the hamlets of Torrecilla and Campillo to be calmer every time it rains in Lorca.

" Diego José Mateos explained that "the deadline for the presentation of bids is already open, which will conclude on June 3.

The tender base budget is € 136,387.33 and the term for the execution of the works will be eight months" . Mateos Molina stressed that "these works will contribute to alleviating the drainage problems that the avenues of the Rambla de Béjar and adjacent ones cause upstream from the head of the Rambla de Biznaga". The First mayor has detailed that "according to the river basin organization, to carry out this project, the scope of the current problems and deficiencies should be studied, the possible alternatives should be studied and the most suitable should be developed, which possibly involves building a canal that channels the waters scattered downstream of the A-7 motorway (between Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras), coming from the Rambla de Béjar and adjacent, to lead them to the head of the Rambla de Biznaga, after saving the RM-11 between Lorca and Águilas ". Finally, the mayor has reiterated that "we will continue to work from the different administrations so that a definitive solution can be given to this problem that affects certain areas of our municipality and that keeps our neighbors on edge whenever it rains heavily, flooding their homes, farmland and livestock facilities, among others, so we will continue working hand in hand to make it so.

" It should be remembered that the mayor of Lorca held a working meeting with the president of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation, Mario Urrea, last January in which, among other matters, the drafting of the preliminary plans for the Nogalte dams, Béjar was analyzed and La Torrecilla and its connectivity with the Rambla de Biznaga from Campillo and Torrecilla, "a commitment is fulfilled with the bidding process for the writing of this project", according to Mateos.
