The example that we are suffering in the Plaza de San Vicente is probably the worst mistake that has been made in recent times in terms of urban planning.

It is another great opportunity that makes us lose to Lorca because of the obsession they show to destroy the PP projects.The reality is that today the works for the comprehensive improvement of this emblematic square would be on its final stretch, but the PSOE mayor prefers that the site of the old police station continues to accumulate dirt instead of putting it to value, constructing the building multi-purpose planned and undertake the remodeling of the entrances to the Sam Vicente car park.The PSOE mayor insisted on taking on this project, against all logic and common sense, putting his political whim before the objective criteria.

He has had a whole year to reconsider, but he has stubbornly persevered in this error.

The consequence, once again, is paid by all citizens.

In fact, this awkward and awful management has already cost us 100,000 euros in Lorca, counting only the rent for the offices that must continue to be used.

They are wasting our time and money because they are totally blocked, paralyzed and exhausted.

It is evident that the current local government, woven between losers to prevent the winner of the elections from ruling, does not work.When the PSOE mayor decided to take over this project, he announced that in just a couple of months he would present an alternative, including the space for youth groups.

The passage of time has shown what the people of Lorca already knew: they had no plan for San Vicente, nor do they have any plan for any of the truly important issues for our municipality.

Political management is stopped.The comprehensive improvement that the PSOE mayor has prevented included an investment of 4.5 million euros to build a new 3,254 m2 building, which had to house the headquarters of the Popular University, a children's playroom, an attic floor for social activities and cultural, as well as the Aguas de Lorca offices.This action allowed the access to the San Vicente parking lot to be underground and the exit was changed to Corredera street.

We are talking about what should have been a notable urban improvement for the confluence of Lope Gisbert street with Plaza de San Vicente, within an ambitious plan that included the improvement and change of the current accesses to the parking lot and the replacement of the building that housed the old police station.

This project allowed to expand the space of the Popular University for its program of courses and activities.The facilities that the Popular University left free, located in the Plaza Virgen de la Amargura, and which are municipally owned, were intended to create a Youth Space in the heart of the city, remaining at the disposal of the Youth Council and Youth Associations for their use and enjoyment, and, given their size, they also allowed to set up a classroom for students, open according to their needs, including 24-hour service.The project solved the deficiencies of the confluence of Plaza de San Vicente with Lope Gisbert Street, in addition to also solving the serious access problems presented by the public parking of San Vicente.This plan benefited the inhabitants of Lorca for their economic savings, recovery of the old town, revitalization of the activity and the social movement, urban improvement and resolution of access problems.
