Lorca calls on the Ministry to assume the financing of the adaptation works of the peripheral doctor's offices (21/05/2020)

| To guarantee its opening | Diego José Mateos: "We are not going to allow any office to be closed, so we ask that it be determined exactly which ones need to be adapted, that it be clarified when the rest of the offices are scheduled to open and whether there is work to be done in they and, of course, that the Autonomous Community, in fulfilling its obligations, take charge of the adaptation they need.

" The Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, and the Councilor for Health, José Ángel Ponce, have asked the Regional Government to assume the financing of the works to adapt the clinics to current sanitary hygiene measures in order to reopen and pay attention. Mateos explained that "since the Regional Government assumed competences in health, collaboration between the Regional Administration and the City Councils for the development of public health policies has been customary.

Among these forms of collaboration, there is the promotion and development of an extensive network of peripheral medical offices throughout the municipality that today, according to the criteria set by the Ministry of Health, it is appropriate to adapt to ensure its permanence and good service to our neighbors.

" "This pandemic has reaffirmed the commitment, collaboration and cooperation that this City Council has maintained and will continue to maintain with CARM for the development of health policies.

Like our neighbors who understood from the first moment the importance of remaining in home during the period of confinement and that, for the safety of all, both professionals and users, the Ministry of Health ordered the closure of most peripheral clinics, clinics that now must be opened to regain the care they had been providing.

" The First Councilor has shown that "this opening, as the Ministry of Health now marks us, must be conditioned on the adequacy of a good part of these buildings to guarantee both the safety and the protection of professionals and users.

For this reason, it is Logically and understandably, the same administration that conditions and forces us now to adapt these clinics and the same administration that has the powers in charge of health, assume, if not all, a good part of this extraordinary expense of which the City Council of Lorca is not going to ignore it, but the Autonomous Community has the obligation to contribute and assume ". Mateos Molina has indicated that "waiting for a more exhaustive and careful evaluation by those responsible for the Murcian Health Service, and after an initial review, we have learned that clinics such as the one in Purias, Morata or La Hoya should expand or modify their facilities to be able to reopen.

However, we still do not know anything about the other offices and this City Council is not going to allow the closing of a single office where our neighbors have been receiving their health care for years. The Mayor of Lorca has insisted that "we want to know if we will have to carry out works in offices such as those of Cazalla, Torrecilla, La Listen, La Campana, Aguaderas, Campo López, Marchena, Tiata or El Consejero and, in addition to claiming it in the next meeting with the president of the Community and the rest of mayors of the municipalities of the Region, we will take it as a motion to the Municipal Plenary next Monday.

" "We are not going to allow any office to be closed, so we ask that it be determined exactly which ones need to be adapted, that it be clarified when the rest of the offices are scheduled to open and whether there is work to be done in them, and why Of course, that the Autonomous Community, in fulfilling its obligations, takes charge of the adequacy that our health centers need to provide service in the best conditions.

" Diego José Mateos has highlighted that "the global health crisis triggered by the coronavirus epidemic has demonstrated the importance of health and public services, that public health is not an individual matter, that we are dealing with a public good and it is logical , therefore, that the administrations guarantee as a right a basic public health, with universal and quality character, to make possible the normal development of social life and in this we have to work, side by side, all the administrations ".
