Mayor Diego José Mateos has pointed out that it has been extended to all Lorca residents so that wherever they are at that time, they stop their activity and join the memory of the victims of the coronavirus. The City of Lorca has joined, this morning, the national recognition of all those who died from the coronavirus and has done so with a minute of silence in the Plaza de España, an act that has included the participation of the members of the Municipal groups, respecting the social distance recommended by the health authorities. The Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has stated that "the Council of Ministers approved this Tuesday 10 days of official mourning for those who died due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19, a few days during which the flags of the buildings and municipal facilities will wave at half mast as a sign of mourning.
" Diego José Mateos recalled that "from 00:00 hours on Wednesday, May 27 and until 00:00 hours on Saturday, June 6, the national flag will fly at half-staff, outside, and with a crepe in the moharra of the mast, inside ". Mateos stressed that "due to the historical fact that we are facing, the official mourning decreed is also historical, it is the longest in the history of our country, in tribute and memory of the thousands of victims we have in Spain, and for The Municipal Corporation has kept this minute of silence on behalf of the entire town of Lorca.
" In addition, Mateos Molina has explained that "from the City Council, this recognition has been extended to the victims of the coronavirus to the entire town of Lorca, so that Lorca from wherever they were at that time, stopped their activity, and join the minute of silence as a sign of mourning, remembrance and respect for the memory of the deceased.
" The First mayor has reiterated that "we cannot lower our guard with hygiene and social distance measures to end this pandemic as soon as possible." Lastly, Mateos recalled that, as we announced last week, from the City Hall "we are working on a project with which to pay tribute to all the people who from the first moment have fought or are doing so against the coronavirus, as well as those who sadly have passed away.
A tribute that once the state of alarm is lifted will be promoted as a sign of mourning, respect and solidarity in the face of the loss of human lives as a consequence of the coronavirus.
