The Councilor for Employment has detailed that "the month of May closed in our municipality with a total of 5,612 unemployed, 341 more than the previous month, which ended with 5,271 people registered in the office that the Regional Service of Employment and Training (SEF ) has in Lorca ". Isabel Casalduero explained that "for the third consecutive month there is an increase in unemployment in our municipality, within the general trend of the entire country as a direct consequence of the coronavirus crisis and due to the closure of companies in almost all sectors by the state alarm.
" Casalduero has detailed that "unemployment has risen in almost all sectors, the most pronounced being that registered in the Services sector, in which 186 people have lost their jobs in the last month, registering a total unemployment in this sector of 3,763 people; followed by Agriculture, where it has increased by 164 unemployed, to 744 unemployed; Industry, in which eight people joined the unemployment lists in May, totaling 403; followed by the group without previous activity that added seven more unemployed during the last month up to 352, on the other hand, construction has been the only sector that has experienced a small decrease in unemployment, since 24 people found a job in this sector in May, bringing the total to 350 unemployed.
" By age, the mayor of Local Development has reported that "this increase in unemployment has been noticed in workers of all ages, but it has been more important, as it did in April, in the group of 25 to 44 years, in which a total of 205 people lost their job during the month of May, followed by those over 45, where 98 have done so, and finally those under 25, in which it has been registered an increase of 38 unemployed. The councilor has recognized that "as in the previous months, the health crisis as a result of the coronavirus is affecting the entire society, but it is doing so considerably in the labor market due to the closure of many shops and establishments, although with the entry into the different phases of de-escalation in recent weeks many of these businesses have been able to reopen, so we hope to see an improvement in unemployment data in the coming weeks.
" Casalduero recalled "the start-up from the consistory of the two lines of subsidies for the self-employed and micro-businesses that were affected by the health crisis and that will allow our entrepreneurs and self-employed to recover their activity as soon as possible, also helping the inhabitants of Lorca and lorquinas to minimize to the maximum the economic consequences of the health crisis with the flexibility of the fiscal calendar ". The mayor has insisted that "to fight unemployment, we have proposed a Special Plan for Local Public Employment for the coming months to alleviate the serious unemployment situation especially for the most affected sectors, such as commerce, hospitality and industry, so we will work in collaboration with the different administrations since the solution will depend on everyone with fiscal measures and the promotion of contracting, among others.
