This measure is part of the urban regeneration action of Avenida Santa Clara, to which the regional Executive allocates a total of two million euros.The General Director of Territory and Architecture, Jaime Pérez Zulueta, together with the Mayor of Lorca, Diego Mateos, visited the works on Calle del Paso Blanco and stressed that "this unique area of ??the city has been valued, which has passed to be a friendly and accessible area for the neighbors that will have trees and new furniture.
"The Community has already completed the regeneration of 20 neighborhoods in the city in which some 40,000 people live and in which it has invested a good part of the 346 million euros destined for the reconstruction of the city after the earthquakes.
The comprehensive urban remodeling of Avenida de Europa and adjacent streets, which include the surroundings of the railway station, was completed last April and has involved an investment of three million euros by the Community.They also supervised the works of the Plaza de San Pedro, which are nearing completion and are part of the comprehensive urban regeneration project of the city's Barrios Altos.
The financing of this action is included in the loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) granted to the Community.
The execution of the works of this neighborhood is the responsibility of the Lorca municipality thanks to the agreement with the Community that involved a regional transfer of 10.4 million euros.Jaime Pérez Zulueta highlighted the "importance" of the rehabilitation of the church of San Pedro, which was deserving of one of the awards from the last edition of the Murcia Region Architecture Awards.
