The councilor of this training, Gloria Martín, has been in charge of presenting a sketch of this plan, which has been designed after various work meetings between the Local Committee of IU-Verdes Lorca, Young Left and members of the citizen platforms' CALOR -Culture and Activities Lorca ',' Jartápedanías-Lorca 'and' Lorca Confinada ', born on the internet.

Martín highlighted the "ideas" and the "impetus" given to this project by two young Lorca teachers, Andrés Vicente Miñarro and Ignacio Navarro-Soto Mínguez, who work outside of Lorca and, nevertheless, "do not stop thinking about their land because they want to go back to it and find it in all its splendor.

" And is that, for the mayor of IU-Greens, one of the "strengths" of this initiative must be citizen participation.

For this reason, although it has made an offer to the municipal government team to coordinate the implementation of the plan, the objective is "that it belongs to everyone and to the entire city, its neighborhoods and towns." For this reason, Martín has requested that social and economic agents and other political parties participate in it, with the intention of making it "open and consensual." One of the objectives of the plan is for the city council to "pay attention to its public spaces" and recover them for its neighbors and visitors.

In this sense, the mayor recalled that Lorca and its towns have countless squares, parks and streets that can be punctually pedestrianized to promote social interaction and develop a shared culture that goes beyond "having a coffee or beer in a terrace". "We must optimize large spaces such as the esplanade of the castle, the micro amphitheatres of San Diego or La Viña, or the squares of our neighborhoods and towns, and we can make it compatible with the measures of social distance that we must still maintain," said Martín .

In this sense, he explained that it is about promoting actions aimed at a smaller number of people but distributed throughout the old town, neighborhoods and county councils.

In other words, "enhance all the good we have and adapt it to current needs to offer an attractive and differentiated cultural product that also serves to attract visitors in a campaign in which national tourism is going to be key," he added. The main idea that underlies the entire project is "to make this crisis an opportunity, to rediscover our territory and splash it with multiple and small events that democratize culture and reactivate economic sectors such as commerce or hospitality," Martín explained. One of the highlights of the program would be the solidarity concert "Lorca co-N-vid-A", broadcast via streaming on the municipal YouTube channel, and in which different groups and soloists would use different emblematic locations in the city as a stage and its towns.

It would serve as a tribute to those who have fought against the COVID19 crisis and everything collected in their Row 0 would go to the solidarity account of the City Council to meet the basic needs of the families most punished by it. The councilor of IU-Verdes has assured that Lorca has an important list of local artists that "we must support and promote" and that they have "more than enough talent" to fill the city's squares and neighborhoods with music with different styles ( gangs, flamenco, song, opera, pop, rock, jazz, ...) Also to star in street art exhibitions, monologues, puppets, theater or magic.

These activities could add graffiti or photography contests. The mayor has also suggested having local athletes and the Santa Clara Skateboard association to carry out urban sports exhibitions such as parkour (art of displacement), skateboarding or other disciplines.

And it has opted to adapt "the cover route" to current circumstances, along with other initiatives that enhance local hospitality. Among the proposals, the plan includes setting up a drive-in cinema in the garden of La Rueda where the installation of mobile food stands and food trucks is also facilitated.

Also activities designed for teenagers, such as themed urban gymnasiums that also serve for the youngest to know the history of Lorca. Regarding financing, Martín assured that there is "more than enough margin" taking into account that this year the City Council will not have to face the September fair or the festivities of many neighborhoods and districts.

"We are going to need much less resources, but much more imagination and capacity for initiative, work and organization," something that, according to the mayor, "is not an obstacle if we all work together," he concluded.
