The deputy spokesman for the Popular Party in the city of Lorca, Ángel Meca, has reported that the PSOE mayor has abandoned the general maintenance tasks of both the city and our districts.

The calls and notices that come to the Popular Party of Lorca are continuous, and they are outraged that the current local government, a failed and exhausted group, has abandoned the usual work of repairing streets and roads in the municipal network. What Lorca cannot afford is to put up with a mayor who, when the neighbors ask him to establish solutions to the most basic maintenance tasks, they find the answer to "shrug" and appeal to "resignation".

Right now, when the current local government has already had to acknowledge that it is saving more money than ever, they should be taking advantage of the time they are wasting.

We are not talking about new asphalting or "patching" of the pavement, it is that in many of them it is not even proceeding to clear the ditches, so that the weeds, including bushes and weeds, have invaded even the lanes, preventing the normal circulation of vehicles.

On these roads, the situation deserves special attention, since the density and height of the weeds directly interfere with road safety, hindering visibility for drivers and pedestrian traffic on the verges. As if that were not enough, dozens of neighbors have called us alarmed because they have watched stupefied how in some places where the verges have been cleared, the work has been limited to cutting the brush and leaving it accumulated on the ground itself, creating a problem much larger, since this brush is the ideal element for starting a fire. There are neighbors who, after contacting the councilors of the current government, denounce that they all shirk their responsibility and simply drain the bundle, excusing themselves that this is a matter for other councilors of their own government.

It is evident that we cannot continue like this because the situation is unsustainable.

We are talking about an abandonment problem that has spread throughout the municipality. We have been warning the PSOE mayor of what was happening since the beginning of the year, but he preferred to look the other way and turn his back on the neighbors, who have told us that they are "bored" of calling without anything being solved. Today we have as a most significant example the bed of the Guadalentín river, which is infested with mosquitoes, skipped with garbage and debris, and the central channel is totally broken and between its cracks water does not stop flowing, generating dirty and rotting ponds.
