This action is part of the comprehensive renovation works of the La Salud-Cristo Rey neighborhood in Lorca, whose regional investment exceeds two million euros, and aims to improve mobility and living conditions for the inhabitants of the neighborhood. The general director of Territory and Architecture, Jaime Pérez Zulueta, paid a visit today at the beginning of the bending of the aforementioned boulevard in which he explained that the work will generate a green area where a futsal court, fitnes games, an enclosure will be installed for dog skills and wooden picnic tables. He stressed that the channeling of the promenade will also "enable the expansion of Calle Torrecillas, which will become two-way, and increase the number of parking lots." Furthermore, this action will improve pedestrian accessibility to the school located in that area. The action consists of covering a section of it and, once channeled, build the pedestrian area.
The drainage system consists of an underground gallery 265 meters long, with a reinforced concrete frame.
The covering works will allow the drainage of the avenue flow of 500 years of return period, of 187.85 cubic meters second. "This work will also mean an improvement in the connection of the neighborhoods, will benefit the mobility of residents between La Viña and Cristo Rey with Alfonso X", according to the director general, who indicated that the action includes the renewal of infrastructure and services public with innovative criteria of energy efficiency and minimum maintenance cost (supply, sanitation, lighting ...).
